I woke up. Coughing and hacking trying to drain my lungs of pond water.
Tastes fishy,
Yuck.
Slowly opening groggy eyes, I rub them, trying to get a sharp view of the figure in front of me.
"h...hello?" Was the only thing I could manage to sputter, pulling the seaweed out of my hair.
After my eyes were cleaned, I looked up and saw it. I scrambled to my feet and nearly screamed.
She looked like a mermaid...but creepier. What was she? Or he?
"W-wait!" Her slimy webbed hands reached out to me. She looked scared...she wanted to help me.
"What...what are you? Who are you? Wh..at do you w-want from me?!"
"I'm here to help you. I took you to shore."
I was trying to process this. Where even was I? It was too foggy to be at the pond. It looked like a lake. No, a swamp. There was lots of moss, and the water was very green.
"No, no, no!! This..this is all a dream! Ha..haha i'll..i'll just wake up! And my mom will be there..making m-my favorite, h-home made scrambled eggs!"
I pinched myself and closed my eyes, only to find a sinking feeling of panic in my stomach.
"We can't stay here for long, we must leave." She whispered. Her voice was quite lovely for such a hideous creature.
"I d-don't feel c-comfortable being l-led by some creat-ture."
Curse my stuttering.
"*Sigh.* Fine. Just give me a second."
She hummed a lovely melody, as she transformed into a stunning girl. Short pale-blue hair with glowing green eyes. Her freckles took the shape of stars and she looked more human.
She used some of her..I think...magic? I'm not sure, but she used her "magic" to create dry clothes out of flowers, dry sea weed, and vines.
But that tune...I recognize it. My mom would sing me to sleep with that tune.
"Oh, I don't think I properly introduced myself. My name is Alexandria. But you can call me Alex."
Hm. What a different name for a girl.
"Well I'm Sans."
"Are you ready now, Sans?"
Alex looked up at me. She was kind of a child compared to my size, almost looked around ten years old.
I was still unsure. The swamp looked creepy, but so did the forestry ahead.
I guess I don't have much of a choice.
"Okay. I'll come with you. But where are we going?"
"To safety."
Gee, thanks.
Alex started to lead the way.
The forest was filled with all different blues and greens. Even the trees were blue! There were heart-shaped berries, star shaped, and some moon-shaped.
I have to focus first.
"May I ask, what was that creature? Y'know, the one that tried to-"
"Kill you and take your soul? Those are Water Banshees. We'll have to wash up those scratches I found on your arm when I saved you."
I shuddered at the sound of them. Looking at my arm, some cloth was wrapped around it. Unraveling, Alex look concerned.
"Wait, stop! It's not fully healed yet, you gotta-"
Her jaw dropped. No wonder I didn't feel it. It's gone. Already healed.
"w...wha...b-but it was there! Wait.. what's your full name?"
"I already told yo-"
She pulled a dagger out to my neck.
"I asked you a question. What is you're full name?"
"u-uh it's Sans...Sans Abelle."
Alex took a full-on examination of me, especially my eyes.
Walking around me, she pricked my hand.
"Ouch! what was that for?"
"A blood test. So you really are an Abelle."
"Alex, what is going on here?! Why did you need a blood test? What's so special about me being an Abelle? Is something wrong?!"
Alex looked me in the eyes.
"Yes. There is a LOT that's wrong."
