"Come with me."
She grabbed my hand and made me sprint through the forest.
I could hear the crunching leaves, twigs, and bugs all around me as I zip by.
In the distance, I could hear something...voices...screeches? Hard to tell.
"Hurry up!" Alex yelled
I saw a blue glow coming from behind a group of trees as the voices grew louder, and louder.
After we got past the trees, there was a small...puddle? It was next to a bright glowing pond.
We stopped for a breather, and I examined my surroundings. My head was over the puddle, looking at the reflection.
A raindrop from an above leaf fell into a puddle, causing distortion in the image.
Suddenly, a high pitched screech was right inside me ear.
My hands over my ears and my knees on the ground, Alex immediately started to shake me and try to get my attention.
I was on the verge of crying, just as they started to fade away, leaving a ringing sound in my ear.
Slowly releasing my hands, I look over at the puddle. It's calm now. Still, no movement.
"Hey, what happened?" Alex said, holding my hand. I was still shaking.
"I...I heard voices. Screaming, in high pitched tunes. I couldn't understand them...but there was a lot."
Alex looked confused, then smiled.
"Oh man...the palace will be happy
to hear this!"My eyes darted at her.
"The Palace?! Happy about my ears almost bleeding?!"
"You'll see what I mean. C'mon, we should get going."
She stood in front of the glowing pond, helping me up as I stumbled to get my balance.
"Ready?"
"Ready for wha-"
She jumped into the pond, and we go right through it! A cool breeze flushed my hair dry, and crisp air cleared my stuffy nose.
We land on something, possibly stone?
It felt cold on my feet as we glided down to it.
"Open your eyes now."
Trusting her, I open my eyes to find myself standing on a stone path, leading to a kingdom with houses of blue crystal, and a palace of white.
"Wh...what is this place?"
She chuckled.
"We call it...Ashing River. But you can call it...home."
Home.
I thought.
Why does everything seem so...familiar?
