Chapter twenty one |𝑨 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝑺𝒐 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕 𝑮𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚

The cicadas buzzed in the thick summer breeze, their cries blending with the distant sound of a baseball hitting a bat from the school grounds. The golden sun hung high, casting shimmering waves of heat across the pavement. Inside the classrooms, students were restless, tapping their pens against their desks, eyes flickering towards the windows as the final days of school ticked away. Vacation was right around the corner, and the promise of freedom lingered in the air like the sweet scent of blooming hydrangeas.

The vending machines were constantly empty, drained of every cold drink as students sought relief from the heat. Even the teachers had stopped trying to keep the class focused, sighing as they let the students chatter about their summer plans.

Miyamura sat at his desk, chin propped on his hand, watching Y/n laugh with Yuki near the window. Their dating anniversary was coming up, and he wanted to do something special- something memorable. A vacation to somewhere sounded perfect. The only problem? He had no clue as to where or how to plan one. That's where Ren came in.

Miyamura Pov

"Ren-san", I called out leaning over my
desk.

Ren turned, mischievous smile of her face, "What is it, Miya?"

"I need your help", I whispered

"It's about your upcoming Anniversary right?", Her grin grew wider

I nodded my head and rubbed the back of my head.

"I knew you'd come to me for help", Ren shrugged, her smile doesn't fades.

"Actually I do have an idea. So I'd like to meet you someplace else. To discuss it briefly", Ren continued whispering, scared to seek any attention from Y/n I think.

"Okay. Let's meet in the mall near the station after school", I mumbled fidgeting the pages of my notebook, my attempt to not grab Y/n's attention

"But how are you planning to deceive
Y/n through all this"

I glanced at Y/n who was still very busy with Yuki near the window,
"I guess you'll have to wish me luck" I sighed

Later after school, Me and Y/n walked out of the school gates, her hand intertwined with mine. She stared at me for a long minute, as if waiting for me to say something.

"So..", I mumbled

"What are you doing after school?", She grinned cutting me off

"I have to finish some work at the bakery, so I'll get back and do just that", I returned her with a small apologetic smile and disappointment was all across her face

"You know, All our friends, me included are planning to go to-"

"Sorry Y/n, I'll have to pass", I turned my gaze, not wanting to face her right now

"That's sad. You know you'll be missing out on a lot of fun stuff", her eyes sparkled, her attempt at making me excited

I brought her hand to my face and brushed my lips across it

"Yes, I know. So have fun on my behalf," I gave a small smile and waved my goodbyes with her.

fter a few minutes of walking, I reached the mall near the station.
The mall was cooler than I expected, air conditioning washing away the summer stickiness as I navigated through the crowd. I spotted Ren easily-leaning against the railing near the food court with two iced drinks in her hand like she owned the damn place.
