A lot of people don't understand what's it's like to be fighting to put food on the table because your mom is a single mother of two.
My older brother, Jack Barakat, was a surprise. She was young and in love, until he walked out on her.
My dad? Well, he did the exact same thing, except he didn't just walk out. He stood my mom up at the alter. They were due to be married the day before my mom found out she was pregnant with me.
She's been struggling ever since.
My brother and I got jobs as soon as we turned 15, trying to help her with bills. We both hated asking for money and never asked her for anything. We kept our money safe, until Jack got a hit with one of his gigs.
Jack, being the only male in the family, pulled two jobs. One, at a McDonalds and another his band would play in bars on weekends.
Me? I worked two as well. I worked at a Belk and as a babysitter for anyone who offered.
Most people don't work two jobs and go to school, but my mom was hard on grades. So, Jack and I both graduated high school with A's and B's.
My mom worked three jobs. She worked 5 to 9 at a Shell station, 11 to 2 at a Little Ceasars, went home and slept for a few hours before getting up and being at McDonalds by 10 to work until 4 in the morning.
Most people look at my life and take pity, but I'm happy because that isn't our life anymore.
Jack's band took off, becoming one of the world's biggest Alternative bands. I still have two jobs, but one I really don't count. I write a few songs for Jack's band and sing a few back-up vocals very rarely. They are all like brothers and only the band and the bands managers know I write songs for them because I refuse to be credited. Hell, no one really even knows I exist because I hate fame and no one really looks into the boys' lives.
I loved my life, although I didn't expect my life to turn into a romance novel when I met a certain Australian band.
A/N:
Hey, guys! This is my new story! I hope you all will read it. I promise that it'll get better. This is just the beginning and never judge a book by it's cover. ;) I have huge hopes for this story and hope people see that.
