It had been about 2 weeks since Emilie last talked to Micah. Oddly enough, he didn't seem to care that they were not talking anymore - at least not as much as they did before. The only time she would see him, was at school. They would just - walk past each other, acting as if the other one was invisible. Though he would - once in a while flash her a smile. That was it. He was acting as if nothing had happened. Emilie just wasn't sure if they were even friends anymore.

"Thank you for the pie, Martha. The kids really liked it."

Emilie was just about to go upstairs when she heard the familiar voice. She almost immediately ran to the kitchen to find her mother and Mrs. Grayson standing by the counter. Emilie put on the brightest smile on her face as she entered the room. No, Micah wasn't there. She figured as much. Why would Micah even follow his mother around?

"Hello, Mrs. Grayson." Emilie greeted politely; brushing off the invisible dusts on her skirt. The 40 year-old something woman smiled back. "Hello, Emilie. I haven't seen you in quite a while." she said, looking at the brown haired girl from top to bottom. "Don't you look lovely as ever." Emilie blushed at the compliment - she was never good at taking them. She glanced at her mother and quickly understood the look she gave her. Emilie looked back at Hanna Grayson and thanked her.

Emilie turned slowly on her heels, but then slowly turned back, an awkward smile plastered on her face.

"Where - where is Micah?"

She just had to ask. She couldn't help it. But at the same time - she was worried about the answer she would get. What if he really just didn't want to be around her anymore?

"Oh. He is is probably with the new girl again. Mr. Hobbs's daughter, Karen. You know her, right?"

The answer was worse than she had imagined. Emilie sucked in a deep breath and told herself not to cry - yet. The new girl. Karen Hobbs. How could she miss her existence? The new popular girl in school. Tall, model-like figure even for a fifteen-year old. Rich blonde hair. Pretty face. And she knew that before she had even seen the girl. The boys in school - they were pretty good at describing of how good Karen looked like. When Emilie finally saw her for the first time - the descriptions were nothing compared to the way she really looked like. It was almost like all the different version of descriptions combined together and doubled.

That was Karen Hobbs.

Emilie nodded weakly; feeling her heart breaking slowly. "Oh." was all she managed to utter in response. "Okay." was what she said next, followed by a polite excuse to leave the room. She ran up the stairs to her room as fast as she had ran to the kitchen earlier.

School was just the last place on Earth she wanted to be at. She was practically dragging her feet as she walked along the hallway, her eyes on her feet the whole time. She just did not want to be there now knowing that Micah and Karen were really together. She didn't like how painful it was. She didn't have the strength to walk around the school knowing that at some point, she might just see them together. She didn't want to. She'd actually rather be blind than to see them together. It hurt that much that she was willing to do something crazy just to avoid herself getting hurt even more.

When she finally looked up from her feet, she wished she hadn't.

There they were - walking down the hallway together, Micah's hand wrapped around Karen's. Involuntarily, her tears started to roll down her cheek. There was no point in trying to look calm anymore. She turned around quickly, praying that he wouldn't see her.
