I got out of my car and shut the door behind me and walked over to the military base center to pick up the keys to my house.
“Last name,” The receptionist let out.
“Malik,” I sighed.
She looked up, “Id?” She let out.
I passed her my military ID.
She typed some more, then she gave me they key.
“Welcome,” She smiled at me.
I smiled back, and she gave me a flyer.
It was a cookout for the new wives on base.
I looked down at my muscle tee, and my high-waisted shorts and flip flops.
I thought about the top knot bun I had on.
I can’t go dressed like this.
I got back in my car and searched for the house.
I pulled my little Honda up behind a Toyota camry.
The girl getting out looked just as lost as I did, I laughed a little.
I got out as she did and she looked over and smiled at me.
“You’re new on base as well?” She asked.
I smiled and nodded looking over at my 54B Townhouse.
“54A?” I asked her.
She nodded, “We’re neighbors.” She laughed.
“I’m Phoebe,” I let out a little louder.
“I’m Autumn,” She smiled and her brownish green eyes glistened.
Her hair was up in a ponytail and her body was curvy.
Her dimple on one cheek was adorable.
She looked too young to be married, but then again I am only 19 who am I to talk?
She walked over to me and she said, “Need help unpacking?”
I sighed, “Let’s help each other.” We both chuckled as we unloaded cars together.
“Furniture is coming tomoorw,” She sighed as she sat on a stair.
“Where are you sleeping?” I asked.
“Sleeping bag I guess,” She chuckled.
“When does he come?” I asked.
“Tonight, I think. How about your guy?” She asked.
“Tomorrow morning,” I said.
“If Harry doesn’t show up come sleepover,” She smiled.
“Definitely,” I said.
She came over to help unload my stuff.
Zayn came a few days ago and brought furniture, so I didn’t have to worry about that.
We made some food and sat on the couch talking.
She was such a funny person.
“You’re going to this cookout thing tonight?” She asked.
I sighed, “I wanted to.” I let out quietly.
“Oh, I wanted to too, Lets go.” She said.
“Looking like this,” I asked as I looked at what a mess we looked like.
She laughed, “No silly. Let’s get ready. Let me go home and grab something.” She let out.
I nodded as I went to grab clothes. I left the door unlocked for her.
