Matt's POV
I didn't even realize I was staring at her until someone knocked me out of my senses. It was Ethan who bonked me on the head with the basketball he was holding. He looked in the same direction I apparently was staring at.
"Who are you looking at man?" Ethan asked.
"Who's that with Frizzhead?" I responded.
"Looks like Frizzy has a boyfriend," Drew said. "Who woulda thunk someone would actually go out with her. I mean talk about social outcast of the school."
We all just laughed but I felt something weird at the very pit of my stomach. Like it was wrong to be laughing at what Drew said? Or that maybe I was feeling some anger towards whoever that guy is that seems to just be casually talking to her. Get a grip Matt. There are so many other girls in this school all chanting your name. That's when I told myself that I wouldn't allow myself to fall for Frizzhead.
Mandy's POV
School ended and I was heading to my locker to grab my books. Just as I opened my locker, someone closed it shut.
Then I stood face to face with the hideous beast herself with her little followers. I looked at her stunned. Fight back Mandy, fight back! That's what my brain was shouting to me. But I just stood there. Like a statue.
"You've got some nerve Frizzball," Angela said.
"I-I-I beg your p-p-pardon?" I stuttered confused.
"Don't you even think for a second that Matt's going to fall for some loser like you!" she spat at me.
What the hell was this blonde sea monster talking about? Matt? Fall for me? I wouldn't have even thought of it! Not in this lifetime! Not in this world! Not ever!
"I honestly don't know what you're talking about," I squeaked.
"Awwwwww, poor little Mandy Hansen. Can't get a guy cuz she's so ugly. Won't ever be noticed, cuz you're a NOBODY. I don't even know why I'm bothering to waste my time talking to you. You're no threat. But out of the kindness of my heart, I'm giving you a fair warning. Back off! Matt is mine and will never be yours," she said to me with narrowed eyes.
And like a little loser, all I said was, "Yes."
She put her hand up to my face and ripped my glasses off my face and tossed them to the floor. And then as she walked away, I heard a little crunch and right there I just wanted to cry. What did I do?
But I sucked it up. So there I was just crawling on the floor trying to find the remains of my glasses. I felt the presence of someone in front of me. This person grabbed my hand and put my glasses in the palm of my hands. I wore it and even though the right side was cracked I saw who it was.
"Thank you," I muttered.
"What happened?" she asked.
"Just.... fell." I lied.
"Uh huh, and your glasses just cracked like that?" she responded. Obviously, I sucked at lying. "I'm Janine," she smiled and stuck her hand out.
Now even with my cracked out glasses, I could see from the left and she was really really pretty. Shoulder length brown hair, a sweet smile, and pearly whites.
"You look familiar?"
"Uhm, yea. You know Drew? Drew Hart? He's my big brother. He's a jerk sometimes, but he can be a teddy bear. Just don't tell anyone I told you that. He'll kill me if he finds out I spilled the beans," and she winked at me.
