"The hell does that prophecy mean?!" I said as i entered Sacramento "It's pratically the same of the one that was told to Odysseus!"
I parked my car and walked in a bar hoping to be able to eat and drink before reaching my father prison. As i sat down two women came in, they both wore black dresses and a veil on their face.
"We don't like what happend to hour sister" As the first one talked it felt like silk against the wind, who also had a golden decoration on her left sleeve
"We don't like it at all, we miss her so much..." Said the other, whose voice was hoarse, like it screamed too much, she had a goplden decoration on her right sleeve
"You know... they want your body, and your heart still beating" Said the first one who talked
"Stheno, Euryale..." As i said so Stheno grabbed me and throw me outside of the bar while her sister was getting ready to scream
"Fuck... that hurt... You seem to have gotten stronger as i said so i saw Euryale ready to scream. But she turned her head and screamed towards my car destroying it "Come on! You could have left it alone!"
As i said so Stheno grabbed me, spred her wings and pulled me up in the sky with her before letting go of me. As I was falling Euryale screamed towards me, this scream was less powerful only made to knock me out, luckily for me It didn't work. As i got up from the ground i looked at the two of them and then at my car. "Why did you touch my car?!"
"It was in the middle of my line of fire" Said Euryale
"You could have waited! It was pratically new!"
"It was an old car"
"IT WASN'T OLD IT WAS VINTAGE!" I screamed as i finally readied my sword, and looking at the two sisters. Waiting for them to do anything
SOMEWHERE ELSE
We'd arrived on the outskirts of a little ski town nestled in the mountains. The sign saidWELCOME TO CLOUDCROFT, NEW MEXICO. The air was cold and thin. The roofs ofthe cabins were heaped with snow, and dirty mounds of it were piled up on the sides of thestreets. Tall pine trees loomed over the valley, casting pitch-black shadows, though themorning was sunny.
Even with my lion-skin coat, I was freezing by the time we got to Main Street, whichwas about half a mile from the train tracks. As we walked, I told Grover about myconversation with Apollo the night before—how he'd told me to seek out Nereus in SanFrancisco.
Grover looked uneasy. "That's good, I guess. But we've got to get there first."
I tried not to get too depressed about our chances. I didn't want to send Grover into apanic, but I knew we had another huge deadline looming, aside from saving Artemis in timefor her council of the gods. The General had said Annabeth would only be kept alive until thewinter solstice. That was Friday, only four days away. And he'd said something about asacrifice. I didn't like the sound of that at all.
We stopped in the middle of town. You could pretty much see everything from there: aschool, a bunch of tourist stores and cafes, some ski cabins, and a grocery store.
"Great," Thalia said, looking around. "No bus station. No taxis. No car rental. No wayout."
"There's a coffee shop!" said Grover.
"Yes," Zoe said. "Coffee is good."
"And pastries," Grover said dreamily. "And wax paper."
Thalia sighed. "Fine. How about you two go get us some food. Percy, Bianca, and I willcheck in the grocery store. Maybe they can give us directions."
We agreed to meet back in front of the grocery store in fifteen minutes. Bianca looked alittle uncomfortable coming with us, but she did.Inside the store, we found out a few valuable things about Cloudcroft: there wasn'tenough snow for skiing, the grocery store sold rubber rats for a dollar each, and there was noeasy way in or out of town unless you had your own car.
"You could call for a taxi from Alamogordo," the clerk said doubtfully. "That's down atthe bottom of the mountains, but it would take at least an hour to get here. Cost severalhundred dollars."
The clerk looked so lonely, I bought a rubber rat. Then we headed back outside andstood on the porch
"Wonderful," Thalia grumped.
"I'm going to walk down the street, see if anybody in theother shops has a suggestion."
"But the clerk said—"
"I know," she told me. "I'm checking anyway."
I let her go. I knew how it felt to be restless. All half-bloods had attention deficitproblems because of our inborn battlefield reflexes. We couldn't stand just waiting around. Also, I had a feeling Thalia was still upset over our conversation last night about Luke.
Bianca and I stood together awkwardly. I mean... I was never very comfortable talkingone-on-one with girls anyway, and I'd never been alone with Bianca before. I wasn't sure whatto say, especially now that she was a Hunter and everything.
"Nice rat," she said at last.
I set it on the porch railing. Maybe it would attract more business for the store.
"So... how do you like being a Hunter so far?" I asked.
She pursed her lips. "You're not still mad at me for joining, are you?"
"Nah. Long as, you know... you're happy."
"I'm not sure 'happy' is the right word, with Lady Artemis gone. But being a Hunter isdefinitely cool. I feel calmer somehow. Everything seems to have slowed down around me. Iguess that's the immortality."
I stared at her, trying to see the difference. She did seem more confident than before, more at peace. She didn't hide her face under a green cap anymore. She kept her hair tiedback, and she looked me right in the eyes when she spoke. With a shiver, I realized that fivehundred or a thousand years from now, Bianca di Angelo would look exactly the same as shedid today. She might be having a conversation like this with some other half-blood long afterI was dead, but Bianca would still look twelve years old."Nico didn't understand my decision," Bianca murmured. She looked at me like shewanted assurance it was okay.
"He'll be all right," I said. "Camp Half-Blood takes in a lot of young kids. They did thatfor Annabeth."
Bianca nodded. "I hope we find her. Annabeth, I mean. She's lucky to have a friend likeyou."
"Lot of good it did her."
"Don't blame yourself Percy. You risked your life to save my brother and me. I mean, that was seriously brave. If I hadn't met you, I wouldn't have felt okay about leaving Nico atthe camp. I figured if there were people like you there, Nico would be fine. You're a goodguy."

"Even though I knocked you down in capture theflag?"She laughed.
"Okay. Except for that, you're a good guy."
MEANWHILE WITH Y/N
"Euryale! Calm down! She'll reform in a few years, or maybe centuries!"
"You are really saying that?!"
"It's pratically the same thing you said about my car!" As i said so i jumped at her, pushing her on the ground and placing my foot on her head "Now, anything you can say without the need of being tortured?"
