Chapter One

Maria's POV

I woke up to the sound of whistling. That annoying sound. Forcing my eyes all the way open, I looked around me, seeing I was in an alley.

Where am I? Who am I? What am I doing?

Finally, I recovered a little bit and murmured to myself, "I lost my memory."

I walked out of the alley, and saw I was in a town that I would say was bustling, and I came to a road that was almost empty.

At this point I was about to yell in frustration when I saw a familiar face. I don't know who it is, but maybe they'd recognize me if they saw me. Then I tried waving at him, trying to get his attention, and he looked at me. He looked at me!

But instead of heading for me, he heads for the man behind me. He also looks familiar, with the black hair, glasses and brown eyes.

Almost stomping my foot in anger, I trot off to try and recover my memory.

Ugh... It hurts!!

I started shuddering to hold in the pain I was feeling. It's so painful! Why?! I was only trying to... Remember...

Then I went unconscious because the pain became worse and worse.

I opened my eyes, finding myself in a huge green field. Colorful flowers were everywhere as I ran around the meadow. My eyes darted to a certain flower, and I immediately say, 'Hana'. Which means flower in Japanese. But here... Japan is Japon. Wait-what?

How do I know this? Just... How?

"She's awake!" Spoke a voice as my eyes fluttered open.

"Great! What happened to you, onee-san?" Said a little boy.

I sat up quietly, looking between the two males. My purple eyes closed and I gave a forced smile, "I just got a migraine, that's all."

"Oh... Well, I'm Gon!" Said the chirpy raven-haired boy.

"And I'm Leorio." Said the other as he looked at me weirdly.

Gross, but friendly. Maybe it was just his creepy smile? Possibly.

They stare at me intently, waiting for something. Agh! How could I be so stupid?! They want to know my name!

"Uh," I started hesitantly, "I'm-" I stopped. What should I tell them? What's my name?! Uhm... I'll go with-

"I'm Mara." I finished confidently with a smug smile. The name felt close to me... But it didn't fit... I think. -.-'

"Hey! I'm back!" Called out a girl with short blonde hair.

Wait-no... The voice is more masculine. It has to be a boy!

"Ah! Kurapika! She woke up!" Shouted Gon excitedly.

"Really? Well, I'm Kurapika." Said the blondie.

"I'm... Mara." I said, getting used to the name.

"Mara, we have to head to the Hunters Exam, can you get home by yourself?" Kurapika asked as he gave me one of the four drinks he had gotten for them.

I just realized that he had been with Gon at the time when I had seen him. It'll be my lucky guess that these people don't know me.

"A-Actually," I began, making them turn around-they had been starting to walk away, "I don't have a h-home." My voice wavered and the boys looked at each other.

"You can come with us, Mara! We'll take you with us to the Hunters Exam!" Exclaimed Gon.

Hyper much?

Finally, I looked at him in the eyes, "What's the 'Hunters Exam'?"

A/N; Hello! I'm trying to make a more descriptive and detailed Hunter Fan-Fic. :) I pray that this one will be better, and if you guys will support me, I will make this the most amazing book ever!
BTW; I tried to make this chapter a cliffhanger, but I think it just got funnier at the end.
