Finally, I looked at him in the eyes, "What's the 'Hunters Exam'?"
---
I listened patiently while Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio told me all about the Hunter's Exam. After a few minutes, Kurapika motioned that we go onward, and I agreed, thinking that it would be better not to slow them down with explanations.
Then, we came upon these crazy people with a little old granny sitting at the... Booth. She asked us a question-one that stumped me for a moment. I almost jumped with excitement when I figured it out. You see, I don't consider myself very smart, so this is an accomplishment! Leorio was fuming, not knowing the answer and not caring about what the granny thought. I would never be able to choose between either my love or my family. Anyone in my family would be worth the risk, but with my love...
Which is why you don't answer! Stay silent and they will let you pass. Hard, my butt! This part seems easy!
--A While Later--
I stepped into the room, munching happily on the food placed inside. Not noticing the elevator move, I kept eating my 'happy' food.
"Ne, Mari Onee-San?" A cute boy looked up at me with his long spiky crow hair.
"What?" I chirped cheerfully.
"Do you want to get out yet? We reached the bottom."
"Ah! Hai! Thankyou Gon!" I sighed as I looked at my food and ran out the elevator door.
"Excuse me, here is your tag, may I have your name?" A little green bean asked me.
"Ah!.... Mari! Mari is my name." I responded, taking the tag after acting like an idiot.
For some reason, I felt like quite a few pairs of eyes are on me...
My eyes caught silver hair and I was dying to touch it! Running quickly towards the short, fluffy, marshmallow-colored hair, I tripped on something. Growling in annoyance, I noticed it was a skateboard.
"Why in the world is a skateboard here?" I wondered aloud.
I finally caught a pair of eyes glaring at me mischievously. Piercing golden eyes staring into my soul, tongue lashing all over his lips. He looked familiar as well, but anyone can tell that he does not look like a friend of mine!
I'm beginning to feel like I don't belong here, like I'm a small bunny surrounded by ferocious lions.
"Oi, girl," an irk formed on my forehead, "you okay down there?"
I snapped my head to face the boy, "Yes, thanks for helping me! And don't call me girl! I'm older than you!"
His round blue-purple eyes narrowed until they formed a sort of slit, "Who are you to boss me around?"
But I was too caught up in the moment to notice him change his hand, "Mari!" I nearly screamed.
"Gosh, you sound like my mother!" He whined, then began laughing at me, "Pfft! You are so unlucky! I swear it's some kind of string of fate!"
I just stared at him-a bit confused on what had just happened.
"Ah! Mari! Want a drink? Our new friend, Tonpa gave us some!" Gon gestured to the fat man talking to Kurapika and Leorio.
My nose caught a whiff of the drink and I wrinkled my nose in disgust, "I think it's expired... Can you smell that?"
He sniffed it too, nodding in agreement, completely ignoring the silver-haired boy beside me, who was staring intently at us.
I blinked at the snow-haired boy, what was so interesting? Sighing in frustration and confusion, I walked over to the gang, sitting down as Gon told Tonpa the drinks were expired-even though Gon drank the whole can.
I can't wait until I can find out who I really am. Maybe the Hunters Association can help me?
That was when I fell asleep against a wall, the boys walking around and doing whatever boys do.
