Jasper POV
"Ugh I hate-" I lurched forward toward the garbage can feeling queasy. We were behind the school where we usually landed.
"You really got to get that down. I mean the irony, you're really fast and accurate at smaller jumps but can't handle the big ones."
I'd been the first to get teleportation and was rather excited until I tried jumping to the next city over and nearly destroying my insides. So far this and our telepathy had been the only powers my brother and I had developed when our Dad was around. He had trained Jace and I separately, based on our learning curve. I never peeked in on Jace's sessions nor him mine but we could always tell what the other seemed to be more skilled at when we sparred.
"Thanks for stating the obvious Jace."
"No problem"
We headed for the front of the building and I froze. There she was. My only reasoning for continuing to attend this crappy school. I mean all schools were crappy if you asked us, but at least this one gave me a reason to stay. Her name was Sosa. Weird first name for a girl I know, but she was not your everyday girl. She hopped out of her navy blue 95 Mustang and scanned the parking lot with her fierce amber brown eyes. This was a part of her normal routine. She didn't look because she was looking for anyone specific. She looked to assess her surroundings. I'm telling you, she's different.
"Looking good Sosa!" Sid commented as he slunk by with the rest of the students headed into the building.
Sid was the cool guy that everybody liked at times but then he could switch and be the prick that you hated. Unpredictable, which is what made me wary of him. Wary to me equaled staying away
"I know. Tell me the day I don't yeah?"
Did I forget to mention she had an attitude as well. Yeah, well it was definitely something I was seriously attracted to.
*RING*
"First class up, I'll see you later bro. Try not to get caught up in the Sosa effect during Chem alright?" Jace smiled as he added that last bit before heading into his class
I fake smiled back at him and entered my designated room number. He took his seat next to Sosa and smiled.
"Hey how are you"
"I'm great now that you're here Jasper," she replied. She gave me a seductive look lowering her gaze and biting her bottom lip
"I...um...I don't-"
She burst out laughing
"I'm kidding Jasper. Geez I never seen you get so worked up before. You're even blushing. Awwww."
"Good one Sosa"
About an hour into class the awkward moment had long gone by but I still couldn't get over it. What made her do that. I mean I know she was playing but we'd been in school together for 3 years and she'd never played with me like that before. I kept glancing at her in the corner of my eye taking her all in. Her pixie cut black hair, white long sleeve shirt, black fitted jeans, and black Doc Martens. She was older than me by 2 years but so was everyone else due to Jace and I skipping the first two years of high school.
"You got something you want to ask me Jasper?"
"What makes you think that?"
"A question with a question. I always like that. Well besides the fact that you avoided answering, you've been glancing at me the whole period."
"Observant as always. Well I-"
*RING*
"Looks like I've been saved by the bell" I winked and got up from the table
