Nora Keilee

I stood like a deer in headlights, watching my roommate put her feet all over the chest of the one person I kind of knew (and kind of disliked; I wasn't sure if I hated him or not. All I knew was that he brought out the utmost of annoyance from me).

"Yeah," Emma said. "You know each other?"

"No," Luke said, still staring at me as I struggled to get Kailee in the door.

"No, we don't know each other," I said.

"But you just said her name?" Emma asked, looking at Luke.

"I guess it's more of a 'I wish I didn't know him'," I said, not entirely sure if my sentence made any sense to the third party.

"What?" Emma asked.

Luke narrowed his eyes at me as I managed to get Kailee's heels off of her limp body, setting her down on the bed.

"Yeah, I wish I didn't know her. Wish I'd never even spoken to her," Luke said, looking straight at me.

"Uh," Emma said, looking at me. "Okay?"

"I'd better go," Luke said, pulling his phone out of his pocket and handing it to Emma. "Gimme your number, though. I want to talk to you more."

I snorted, turning back to Kailee as Luke glared at me.

A few moments later, the door had closed behind the tall boy and Emma was staring at me.

"What's your problem?"

I looked at her quickly, looking back to Kailee after. "Nothing."

"No, seriously, what the fuck?"

"Listen, I'm sure that Luke charmed you with his smooth talking or whatever, but he's not good news. He's a dick when he's not trying to get into your pants, and--"

"I've known him since I was little. I'm not going to fuck him."

At her interruption, I felt my cheeks heat up in embarrassment. She knew him already?

"But-- but he asked for your number."

"Yeah, because we haven't seen each other in, like, three years. But, maybe you're right. I don't know him that well anymore." She bit her lip. "What did he do to you?"

"Uh," I scratched the back of my neck. "Nothing. Not really. Just was a dick to me, I guess."

She furrowed her brows. "Luke, a dick? That's something I've never heard."

I shrugged. "I don't know. He is to me. Probably because I won't have sex with him," I scoffed. It was semi-true. Luke had never even tried to get with me, unless the first time we had met counted.. You shouldn't be alone in a place like this. I scoffed at the thought.

She sighed. "I dunno what's up with him, honestly."

I shrugged. "Maybe college affects us all in one way or another."

She nodded in agreement, a lost look on her face. "Anyway," She sighed again after a beat of silence had passed. "It's getting late. We should probably get some shut-eye."

I nodded, moving toward my bed as Emma started stripping out of her clothes. "You're getting changed here?" I whisper-yelled, looking at Kailee, who was passed out on top of her bed sheets. I had no idea where Ming was, but I figured she was still trying to make friends out on the block.
