He glanced outside, his eyes widened in surprise. His ears had heard the sound of a flute. The tune was so peaceful, graceful, that there were a few people gathering around the person who played it.

Who is that...? He thought. To his curiosity, he walked out of the store and peeked over a few people.

It was him.

Gilbert.

Matthew grinned, watching him play with everything he has. He was impressive, Matthew was surprised at the way Gilbert would play. It was magnificent. Not one person distracted him, not one. His full focus was on the piece. Matthew melted into the wonderful tune, finding himself leaning against the window, watching him.

Soon, the song ended, Gilbert lowered his flute, then taking a bow. The small crowd that gathered around him applauded, Matthew couldn't help but applaud as well. Soon, the crowd walked off, Matthew being the only one still near him. Gilbert turned, seeing him shortly after putting flute in his case.

"Oh, hey Matthew. Wasn't my performance awesome?" He asked.

"You play beautifully." Matthew simply answered. A hint of pink went across Gilbert's face, though he hid it well.

"Danke. The song was one I bought yesterday. Took me all day to practice, or I would've been here sooner."

Matthew then realized that that's the reason Gilbert didn't show up. "I was wondering when you'd show up." He looked at his flute case, seeing Gilbert's name on it, remembering his name again. "You were great, Gilbert." He grinned.

Gilbert smiles in response, then shivered a bit. Matthew noticed, then realized that they were standing in the middle of the winter. He walked to the door, opening it.

"Come on in. I'll make some coffee."

--

The two sat at the front, chatting and laughing, getting to know each other with their mugs of coffee in their hands.

"So..I heard from when you were talking, you have a brother?" Matthew asked.

"Ja. I have a brother. He's really stiff. He's friends with an Italian named Feliciano, but I think Ludwig likes him more than that. It's awesome." Gilbert took a sip of his coffee.

Mathew added on. "I have a brother too. His name is Alfred. He's..a bit of a handful, but he's great. Really hyper."

They both added on more about themselves, asking about their interests, family, and other things. Then, Matthew looked at the time.

"I'm sorry to cut this short, but I gotta close up the shop." He said, grabbing their mugs. Gilbert nodded and waited at the front. Matthew then returned with his coat, walking out and locking the door.

"I...had a nice time. You know, drinking coffee." Gilbert said. Matthew smiled up at him.

"I had fun, too." He replied.

"Would you ever..consider..getting together sometime..?" He asked, a bit quietly. Smiling, Matthew nodded. "Of course. I'll give you my number." Getting a piece of paper, he wrote down his number and handed it to him, Gilbert doing the same.

"I'll give you a text later. Alright, Mattie?" Matthew blushed a bit. No one called him 'Mattie' except his brother, and his parents when they were alive.

"Y-yeah. Alright." He smiled. "Good Night, Gilbert." Matthew walked away, shortly after waving. Gilbert looked at him as he walked.
