[Name] was sitting in an old cottage with her legs swinging off a bench as a man with gloved hands poked and prodded at her with wooden tools.
"There does not seem to be anything physically wrong with her," the man finally spoke, pulling away and turning his head toward the short, yellow-haired woman who had found the [Name] at the edge of the beach.
"But Shadis, you should've seen her." The blue-eyed girl clutched at her chest. "She couldn't even take a step without breaking into tears."
Shadis pursed his lips and looked back at the girl. "Well, she didn't break her foot. She didn't twist her ankle. There's only so much I can do."
[Name] only looked up at him. After all, it wasn't like he could heal cursed limbs.
"Are you mute?" he asked, grabbing her by the jaw and shaking her head.
Without breaking away from his gaze, she shook her head.
"No, she isn't mute," the blonde girl spoke. "She was telling me that she couldn't handle the pain. She fainted on the beach, Shadis."
"Well, the girl isn't speaking, Historia," he said, and the girl did her best to muster her disinterest.
"Maybe she's in shock? She could have survived a shipwreck, and here you are sneering at her." Historia pushed Shadis out of the way and smiled down at the girl. It occurred to her that Historia was prettier than the average human woman.
"Can you tell us your name?" Christa asked gently. "Are there any family members you can recall? Or a friend? Someone we can speak with, to help you."
"I do have one... a friend," [Name] said. "His name is Eren. Eren Jaeger."
"Eren?" Historia's brows furrowed and a frown came to her lips. "You know Eren?"
[Name] didn't answer, and Shadis spoke for her. "Well you heard the girl, Historia. Go grab the Jaeger boy."
Historia was reluctant, but she nodded and was out of the room within a minute. Shadis begrudgingly asked more questions, the girl only shook her head, answering with simple yeses and noes. It seemed as though an eternity passed before the door burst open again, and she saw him.
"[Name]!" Eren yelled, his green eyes wide, his face flushed. She was suddenly much more aware of her appearance. Was the strange yellow dress Historia had given her enough? Was her hair matted from being out of the water for too long?
Her chest tightened. She opened her mouth, but the breath caught in her throat, and she coughed into her hand. Before she had the chance to bask in his presence, he had already sped toward her, dropping to his knees in front of her thighs.
"You know this girl, Eren?" Shadis asked, sneaking another glance at her.
"Yes... yes, I know her," Eren said, though he didn't bother looking at the man. His attention was locked on her. A small laugh escaped his lips, and he squeezed her hands tightly, as though to make sure she was real.
