Vanessa couldn't stop staring her brother down every time she came across him. He, however, seemed to do anything he could to avoid her gaze, going as far as to completely turn in the opposite direction when he catches sight of her. Draco seems to think it's due to something he had done and gloats anytime he sees Harry turn and run.

Vanessa also quickly notices that Hermione Granger is nowhere to be seen. Within a couple of days of noticing her disappearance, Vanessa made her way to the hospital wing. She was startled to see the state of the Gryffindor. She was only able to catch a glance at the fur covered girl before Madam Pomfrey shooed her away.

The puzzle pieces slowly started to fall into place in her mind. Harry and his friends must have made some sort of potion to change themselves into someone else. It must have gone horribly wrong for Granger somehow, though. It would explain the strange behavior of Crabbe and Goyle Christmas night. They must have been trying to get information from Draco. Did they think he was the heir? Did they think she would willingly associate with someone capable of hurting people like that? It would be almost laughable if it wasn't so insulting.

To gain some answers she decided to go to someone who would give her answers without asking too many details of her motives. When classes where over for the day she made her way to the dungeons.

"Good evening, Professor." She smiles politely as she approaches Snape's desk.

"Miss Potter, how may I help you?" Snape looks up from the book he had been looking through.

"I was just curious about potions." She decides to only give the barest of information, to avoid getting Harry in any sort of trouble.

"What sort of curiosity might you have?" He looks at her; he seems to have the barest hint of a smile in his eyes.

"Well, of course, I enjoy your class very much. I find it to comes to me quite easily. I was just curious as to what other sorts of potions can be made, more advanced ones I mean."

He gazes at her now with curiosity.

"Not that I feel capable of even doing so," she is quick to add. "I just enjoy reading and learning new things. I especially am thinking about what sort of future I may have in the wizarding world, maybe making potions would be worth it, but I'd like to read more to know for sure. I know there's a more advanced book in the restricted section that I was interested in looking through, I can't seem to remember the exact title though." She shifts a bit where she stands.

"Moste Potente Potions?" He asks.

"Oh, yes Sir, I do believe that's it. I just thought a look through would be beneficial. Maybe it will sate my curiosity." She chews the inside of her cheek.

"Well, you seem to have some luck today." He stands from his seat and moves to a cabinet on the wall behind his desk. He unlocks it with a touch of his wand. Inside is an assortment of books, all of them ranging in age and wear. He grabs one from inside and she can read Moste Potente Potions on the cover.

"This is my own personal copy; I will allow you to look through it here." He moves to hand it to her.

"Oh, thank you professor!" She takes the book with a smile.

"Of course," he nods and settles back in his seat. She moves to sit in a chair in the corner of the office. She sees the pages are worn with age. However, it doesn't seem to have the typical smell of an old book that she loves. Its scent is that of potions made long ago. She lets her fingers linger on the cover, wondering what sort of potions this book helped make.

She slowly opens the book, the spine cracking a bit with its age. She inwardly sighs when she sees the book contains hundreds of recipes. She doesn't want to seem as if she's looking for any potion in particular, so she skims through them all.
