“I’m Josh Franceschi, I’m vocals for you me at six?” He claimed. I realised who he was then, only because he told me, obviously. “Oh yeah, I’ve heard of your band! You’re pretty damn good. you did a song with my brother yeah?” I confessed. He smiled but it still didn’t reach his eyes. “I’m glad you think so! Yeah I did, Aled is a talented guy, and so is the rest of band.” He added. He went to say something when Kids in Glass Houses finished their set and bounded over towards us. I went to congratulate them and I saw Aled giving Josh a funny look. I wondered what was up but before I could think about it multiple arms were hugging me. I pulled out the camera and shined it on the boys. “Right well that was our first set. Hope those of you here enjoyed it!” Aled buzzed. “And well for those of you who aren’t here, I’m so sorry you couldn’t come,” Andrew added, making puppy dog eyes at the camera. I laughed at his innocence, until he winked at the camera. “Andrew! They’re not going to seduce you” Phil jeered. I went to turn around to talk to Josh, but he wasn’t there. “Led’ did you see where Josh went?” I asked Aled. I called him Led or Leddy’ when we were younger. Leddy’ seemed a little childish now though. “No I haven’t why” He replied, his voice sounded stern mixed with concern. “He said he knows me, but I don’t know why? I don’t know him.” I explained. He shook his head at me. “Tom, Josh is a nice guy, but I don’t want you to get hurt.” Aled warned. I stalked off towards the exit. “Aled, I know you’re just looking out for me but I’m a big girl now. How will I learn if I don’t make mistakes? I’m going to get some air, it’s too warm here. I’ll see you later. Yeah?” I responded. I handed my camera off to Joel. He smiled and the lads begun to film part of the tour diary themselves.
Something about Josh had me drawn. I wanted to know him. More importantly I wanted to know why I didn’t remember him. From seeing today’s line up I knew that you me at six weren’t scheduled to play. I was heading over towards their bus when I saw him. I had been so annoyed at Aled being over protective that I’d forgotten what I’d come to ask Josh about. Nevertheless, I wanted to be friends with Josh. He seemed like a nice enough guy. “Hey Josh,” I called out to him. His head snapped up and he smiled in my direction. I wheeled myself over to him, “how come you left earlier?” I questioned. He tugged on the cuffs of his jumper. He seemed nervous again. “Oh, you noticed? I had to uh- go find the guys. I thought you’d want time with your brother and your boyfriends’ band” Josh stated, his voice rose at the end of the sentence so it sounded like a question. “Boyfriend?” My brows knitted together. I was confused as to who he meant. Josh’s facial expression mirrored mine, “yeah. I thought you went out with Iain?” Josh explained. I laughed a little. “Oh, no, I don’t have a boyfriend. Iain’s just a really good friend of mine” I told him. Everyone always thought I was dating Iain. My stomach growled, it broke the silence between us. “You want to go to catering?” Josh offered. I nodded and we headed over to the marquee.
“You eat like a pig!” I jeered at Josh, who was shovelling pasta into his mouth like he’d not eaten in years. Josh grinned sheepishly, wiping the sauce from around his mouth. “Seriously, you’re like a four-year-old.” I added. Using my sleeve to wipe away the sauce he’d missed. “Oh yeah, you’re like my mom!” Josh retaliated. As poor as his insult was, I let it slide. I finished my own pasta and Josh lead me out the catering tent and over to the main stage. “You want to see us play?” Josh asked. I thought they weren’t playing today. “There was a cancellation, one of the bands is stuck in traffic, so they asked us to fill in” Josh explained. I nodded. I was guided to the side of the stage and I saw four more men head over to Josh. I recognised them as his band mates but I didn’t know their names. “Woah, Joshy boy!” A blonde guy greeted. He was wearing a denim jacket paired with a white t-shirt, black skinnies and vans. “You didn’t tell us you had a date?” He continued. Josh glared at him before saying, “this is Aled’s sister, Tom.” He closed the space between us and shook my hand, “I’m Dan Flint, the drummer.” He greeted. “Oh I know who yo-” Dan had begun to say before Josh punched his shoulder and sent him another deadly glare to tell him to shut up. I took no notice and my attention was brought to the other three men stood with us. There was a short lad, brown ruffled hair. His black polo was short sleeved and exposed his arm of tattoos. He too was wearing black skinny jeans. “It’s nice to meet you Tom, I’m Max Helyer” I took his hand a shook it. Then next guy was taller, dark hair which stood up tall, I knew this was Matt because I had some of his clothing brand in my case. “Hey I’m Matt Barnes” Matt said, “I know, I love your brand of clothing!” I added. He smiled cheerily and his eyes turned into slits. He looked almost Asian. A guy with long dark hair greeted me, “I’m Chris” he said shyly. He tied his hair up and readjusted his shirt. “Are you a fan Tom?” Dan asked. Josh glared at him again. “Well I like your music if that’s what you mean. But if you mean am I here as a fan? Then no, I’m a photographer and my brother asked me to film the tour diaries for them” I rambled. Trying not to trip over my words. “Aw that’s nice, well I hope you enjoy the show” Dan commented before they all took off onto the stage
