A knock on her door made Kimbra sit up in her bed. She glanced at her alarm clock which read "8:22". Sighing, she swung her legs over the edge of her bed and stood up. She wore a t-shirt and silky black lounge shorts. Pulling open the door she found one of the younger men standing there in a black t-shirt and jeans.

"Hello?" She greeted him a little confused.

"I'm Vince. May I come in?" He entered her room before she could answer. She shut the door slowly and turned to face him.

"You're not a werewolf, but you're not quite human." He studied her face.

"Thanks, I didn't know." She stepped past him and grabbed a hoodie from a hook on the wall. She pulled it on over her head and turned back to the man, who was watching her closely.

"Your not anyone's mate yet, either." He reached out and touched her face making her flinch. He was making her nervous.

"Yeah and I think you should go." She crossed her arms self consciously and stepped away from his hand.

"Not yet." He grinned at her and she realized that he was extremely attractive.

"Ok?" She stared back at him trying to keep eye contact.

"You are really are gorgeous," he trailed his hand down her jaw and she nervously glanced at her clock. 8:29. Thorton always woke her at 8:30. He would get him out of here.

She stepped back from Vince abruptly. His eyebrows dropped into a scowl and he let his hand fall to his side where it formed a fist. She stepped back again and someone suddenly knocked on the door.

"Thorton! Help me!" Kimbra called out and the door slammed open.

"What's going on?" Thorton's voice was deep and a little scary. Vince whirled around, momentarily surprised. "Get out of her room."

Vince left silently and Thorton turned to Kimbra.

"Get dressed. Tyvor will not be happy about this." And with that he left, slamming the door shut behind him.

Kimbra was last to arrive in the dining room. Which had two long tables that were mostly full. She took her seat where she was instructed to sit, to the left of Tyvor across from Thorton. Tyvor's other pact members filled the rest of the seats. The only females were mates of pact members and a little older than Kimbra. They didn't accept her and never spoke to her. Corbin sat to her left.

"I heard about what happened." Corbin spoke lowly so only she could here. Kimbra looked up at him and she saw he was angry. Confused, she just nodded. Glancing around she saw Vince was gone.

"Tyvor asked the to leave for the day." Corbin answered her questioning glances. "Vince wanted to claim you." Corbin's voice was dark as he spoke the last part. A chill swept through Kimbra.
