The Bracelet

I poke at my carrots not able to eat. Every time I try to swallow my dinner the food is gagged up. I guess I'm just depressed about how I'm only going to live for another year.

365 days is all I have to breathe.

I ask my parents if I could be excused from dinner and they agree to let me rest.
Once I open the door to my room I'm shocked to see what lays before me.
Red and white roses scattered everywhere! I tenderly place my feet upon the roses trying not to get any thorns stabbed into my feet. It only takes a few steps to reach my bed, where I throw my self onto another blanket of roses. I sweep the smooth pedals off my my bed and rest my head on the white crystallized pillow I got a couple of weeks ago at Pottery Barn Teen.

I decide to travel outside into the starry night. I open the golden handle to my front door and place my bare toes on the soft, damp grass. Before I know it I'm running all around the courtyard. I don't care if the cars see me I'm just happy to feel free! I spin around so fast I fall to the ground and make a huge thrashing sound in the leaves. All the neighbors for sure heard me. But what do I care? They can't punish me! I'm going to be dead soon, anyway!
Slowly tears drip down my cheeks. I close my eyes to keep them from streaming any farther down my face.

"Hello!!! Who is this?!!!"

I open my eyes and notice that four boys around my age (15 years old) are staring at me with wide eyes full of curiosity.

I get off the muddy grass and run my hands threw my blonde hair to untangle it. I reply, "What are you doing in my yard?"

The strange boys say in stupidity, "your yard?! This is our yard! What are you doing at 3 AM in other peoples property?"

I look around myself and notice this is a brick house with a long stone driveway, unlike my house, which is a shimmery stoned house with a short circular concrete driveway.

"I. I. Dont really know. I'm really sorry I didn't mean to disturb you." I reply embarrassed.

By now there's only one boy here. He must be the one who lives in this mansion. He has dark black hair and striking blue eyes that sparkle in the moonlight.

He smirks when I say, "who are you, anyway?"

He replies raising an eyebrow, "I'm Jordan Mathews. And you are?"

I guess it's only fair if I tell him my name, since he already told me his.
"I'm Maris". I say solemnly.

Next thing I know I'm in my bed. I flutter open my eyelids and crawl out of bed. I go to my closest and grab some ripped blue jeans and a light green shirt that says, "BORN TO BE FREE" in black writing.

After I dress I put on some sparkly gold eyeshadow, black eyeliner, and mascara. After I leave the bathroom I run down the stairs and to the kitchen. When I reach the kitchen counter I see a small baby pink box with a black ribbon with white polka dots. Attached to the ribbon is a tag that says, "To our beloved daughter." I hold the box in my hands and slip the ribbon off the box. When I open the box I find a bracelet with multiple Gold Eiffel Towers hanging from the chain. I unhook the chain and slide it on my wrist. I think, "This must symbolize something! I'm going to Paris!" I jump up and down in joy. The smile I am wearing can not be reduced.

Five minutes later I hear my parents footsteps coming down the stairs. They're carrying many heavy things because there are thrashing sounds from objects banging into the railings.

I walk over to the staircase to see that all of our suitcases are placed on the hard wood floor! We are going to Europe!

I go up the stairs and back to my room to finish my hair.
I comb back my straight golden hair into a ponytail. While I am looking at my reflection I notice that there are still tear stains around my green eyes, so I cover it up with some light concealer.

20 minutes later my parents and I are in the car driving to the airport. It's raining outside. Of course. It always rains here in Washington.

I pull out my phone to notify my friends that I'm going to Europe.
Well my one friend, Berlynn.
She went to Paris last summer and said that it was just beautiful! It's just like the pictures!

We reach the Airport and are about to board when I notice him. Jordan Mathews. He's standing in the boarding line 4 people behind us. I whisper under my breath, "What is he doing here?!?"

I turn back around and in a split second I feel a hand on my shoulder.
It's him.

"Oh hey! Maris, right?" I nod in agreement. "Are you following me?" He says in childish tone.

"What?! Nooo!!!" I reply without hesitation.

We both sigh in confusion.
"So are you going to Paris, too?" I ask mumbling a bit.

"Actually I am." We both chuckle and he winks at me. Which makes me roll my eyes at him.

"Want to sit next to me?" He says raising his eyebrows. I give it a thought and suggest that we should just wait and switch later on in the flight. He agrees. Next thing I know is that we start moving up in the line on the plane. I find my seat and am astonished to see that we are first class!
I have never been on first class in my life! Well, my parents have never been able to afford it. I take my seat on the gray leather chair and let out a sigh.

Hey everyone!!! Thank you all so much for reading and following! Sorry there isn't much action so far! But I promise once Maris gets to Paris there will be 😉
