"Hey, Teresa, you got your prom dress yet?" Asked Marlene. I can't believe she's still friends with me. She doesn't care that no one else cares about me. She hangs out with me all the time. She's the best friend I've ever had.

"I wasn't planning on going." I admitted. "After all, it's not like I'm going to get a prom date!" I chuckled, but it was mostly forced. I desperately wanted to go to prom with a date!

"Look, Teresa, you don't need a date! We can just stick together, we don't need any stupid dates! Come on, do you want to miss out?" She says empathetically.
"No" I sigh, giving in.
"Great!" Marlene squeals."let's go dress shopping tonight! Dresses on me!"
"Really! Thank you so much! Your the bestest friend I could ever ask for!" I reply ecstatically.
"How do you know?"She chuckles.
But there's a certain seriousness in her eyes that makes me think that she's better at faking happiness than me.
