It was not midday yet, but the villagers had a lot to gossip about.

The trainees were helping around Kardia, so it would have been impossible for them not to hear those rumors.

Asher was surprised when he saw Ezra running towards him to break in the news of the first prince fighting the guards by Kardia's borders.

The two knights were very worried, especially when the guards heard of the rumors too and rushed back to the palace asking for backup.

"What shall we do?"

Ezra asked.

And for the first time, the red haired knight replied,

"I do not know"

The Lydians who lived by the gate, from both side decided to gather around but not to get so close.

From Kardia's side, everything looked normal.

The gate was closed, the guards were standing beside it and the knight leader was there too.

But the people who were on Odoria's side had a pretty interesting sight to see.

The prince standing all by himself surrounded by defeated bodies.

A lot of people whispering from both sides. While Elmer seemed to be unusually calm.

The silence of the forest got interrupted when Aylin could hear an uncountable number of horses hooves, rushing towards them.

"They're here, Get into your positions"

She said while each of the three men headed towards his position.

Willow was on top of a tree, aiming his arrows towards whoever was coming. Amed and Arthur running in opposite directions leaving Aylin standing there alone.

The sounds got closer only for them to be in the Petrain's frame of view a few moments later.

Aylin had her daggers in hands but she did not move nor intend to attack.

Alex who was leading them smiled at the sight of the red haired girl. They have been looking for her for a while. It was only normal for him to get all worked up.

"What shall we do?"

The guard on his right asked.

"Keep going"

Alex simply replied.

And without him looking back, it took him a while to realise that half of the guards stopped behind after being attacked suddenly by two men.

Alex looked back in shock, he did not know how many people he did lose already but he knew that as long as he was still there, he could pull the mission off.

The guard on his right suddenly fell off his horse followed by the one on his left.

Willow's arrows were too precise to miss, and he was not even visible to their eyes since the forest's trees stood tall and dense.

Letting the three men take care of all the guards, Aylin was facing Alex, ready for him to come at her.

She did not know what his fighting style was like but she did not think it mattered.

And in the midst of the loud battle, while everyone was fighting, the two stood facing each other, Alex was as close as he could get.

He suddenly jumped up, leaving his horse behind. He had a sword in hand.

The sound of Aylin's dagger clashing into the sword was heard from afar as their fight went on.

The crowds kept getting bigger and louder.

The knight did not know what was going on inside the prince's mind.

He had been standing, facing the closed gate for the longest while now.

It was only impossible for him to do anything about it. Unless he climbed up those walls, the gate could only be opened from the other side.

A hooded person from the Kardian crowd stepped forward and walked towards the two people guarding the gate.

The passenger had to get to Orodia but the guards stopped him once he was close enough.

"The gate will be closed for a while, you must go back now"

One of them said.

The young man hooded in black looked up to show the determination glow inside of his eyes.

A strike of his sword hit the guard standing in front of him before he pointed his sword on the other guard.

Before the second guard was able to reach his sword, the second strike was meant to go through him.

"Am sorry"

His doing caught everyone off guard.

His hood was down, showed his light brown hair and familiar face. Victor said.

He grasped the lever, straining as the massive gate began to rise, its iron bars groaning with the effort he put into pulling it up by himself.

It was not easy but without catching his breath for a second, Victor was not going to give up.

Not until the prince from the other side was fully seen.

Their eyes met, no words were needed.

The prince smiled as if he was thanking his friend.

Elmer walked towards the open gate like the royal prince he was.

The crowds were screaming and shouting at the sight of the open gate.

Some stood confused but others cheered loudly for the rebellious prince.

"Thanks, Victor"

Elmer said while patting on his shoulder.

"My prince"

He bowed his head replying. Just like a knight doing his duty towards a royalty.

But it was different when the royalty sees you as a valuable friend.

"I have the horses ready, shall we?"

Victor then asked.

Before the prince got to answer the knight's leader of the gate was standing behind Victor's back.

Had his sword in hand while looking Elmer right in the eyes.

Alex was getting all sweaty after dodging all of Aylin's attacks.

He was barely able to keep up with her speed.

If he survives a dagger, another one would reach his insides and make him bleed.

While he had so many scratches all over his body. Aylin was losing the fun of it.

But no matter how much she tried to cut the distance between them short, Alex did not allow her to get any closer.

She suddenly ran towards him and while he was fully on guard and stepped back she  jumped past him, the second he had his back unprotected.

He felt an unbearable pain on his right side ribs. Ayin's kick landed with a brutal force, taking Alex's breath away.

And even though she expected to see him down, he managed to regain his balance and turn around to face her.

With his sword in his right hand while his left one was wrapped around the damaged right side.

'I can not believe a girl's kick could hurt like this'

He sighed thinking to himself.

'He is still standing, This will not be easy'

Aylin thought while allowing him a moment to catch his breath.

"You know you're lucky I do not hit girls"

Alex said before he stood straight and held his sword with both hands.

"Well I do hit guys"

Aylin replied before they both ran towards each other to began their second round...
