The knights were guarding the palace walls while she calmly walked past them. Her long dark braided hair and sharp light brown eyes made her beauty irresistible.

Not only that Rose was a beauty, she was a hunter which meant someone who is third to the king after the advisor.

Before Leo, Lydia never had such special people and as years went by they gained the guards respect or more like they did fear him.

A knight can not kill unless it was a life of death matter, but a hunter was as good as a mercenary.

The back of the palace was not as guarded as she thought it should be.

She got closer to the wall and put her right hand on it. She looked up and the distance was not an average one.

But she knew very well that Aylin could jump it.

She put her had down and turned around to see the fading footsteps on the ground, leading towards the forest.

Only if she knew that she was one push away from finding the secret door, Rose had her first clue.

"Alright, Am almost there"

She said while following the footsteps quietly.

The knight was not willing to let the prince walk by. It was his duty, obey the king's orders but Elmer saw the hesitation in his eyes.

"Vailen, was it?"

Elmer's words caught the man off guard, he felt the ground under his feet shaking, he has never expected the prince to actually remember his name.

"After my father died, I saw you grieving in his funeral"

Elmer said.

"I did grieve too but at the end of the day we both ended up following Leo afterwards as if the values we helf in us meant nothing"

The prince added.

Elmer spoke of himself, the knight and how most of the people in the palace have been feeling for a while.

After Hiram's death, everyone knew that what the king was doing was very wrong.

But their silence was louder and no actions has been scene.

It was only normal for the people to lose faith in the royal family and its knights.

"These people, all they have is a very little hope, we can get their spark back together"

Elmer smiled saying while putting his sword away back into his scabbard.

The first prince was not scared of fighting Vailen, he could have fought him and won.

Being young and not knowing your limits was one of things that Elmer knew very well about himself, and after every single effort he put into getting himself there, he had no doubt in his strength.

But a knight like Vailen who would be followed by all of the ones who are under him, was a gem he could use in his war against Leo.

'I can not believe am thinking like Louis'

Elmer almost smiled while he thought.

The people from both sides were as close as possible, hearing the serious talk the prince was having with the knight while whispering their thoughts to each other.

"You can not win against Leo"

Vailen said.

The prince smiled while looking around.

"I know"

His words almost took their hope away but he then added the ones who made their hearts fire up yet again.

"But together WE can defeat Leo"

Vailen could not deny he was no longer seeing a prince but a young king who was going to change their nightmare once and for all.

His sword was on the ground instantly. Before he bowed his head down.

Victor's smile was a very bright one, as if he was the one who just won, he looked at Elmer who was also smiling at him.

"We did it!"

The first prince said.

"Yes!"

Victor replied without hiding his happiness nor his excitement.

"THAT'S MY BROTHER"

A child shouted from the crowds, Victor's mother tried to keep him calm but he suddenly ran off.

Lucian almost tripped once more before reaching his older brother but Elmer managed to catch him.

"Are you alright?"

The prince smiled asking.

"A PRINCE!"

Lucian shouted while hugging Elmer who smiled while carrying him up.

'He reminds me of Ed'

The prince thought.

"Lucian, we have to go now"

Victor said in a worried tone before he switched it back to speak to Elmer.

"So sorry, let me carry him or you can put him down"

Their mother came running to get her child.

"Oh my prince, thank you"

She said as she took Lucian into her arms.

"I will borrowing Victor for a while is that alright?"

Elmer smiled saying.

"Of course!"

The mother replied. She could not hide how proud she was of her little one, her eyes could almost tear up.

"Please take care of him"

She then added.

"Aren't you supposed to ask me that?"

Victor interrupted.

Yet it felt like his words were not heard because the first prince made the promise to his mother.

"I will"

He smiled replying.

Before he allowed his trainee friend to say goodbye to his family.

Just watching their war, hug was enough to make him long more to his own home.

'This must end soon'

Elmer thought while thinking of the war he was about to begin.

Inside that small room that was very neat and clean, Louis was looking around.

His fingers going through the bookshelves while reading those titles.

"This feels like something Aylin would read"

He smiled saying, even though he knew that it was her room.

He found some dried flowers, some plant seeds and children books as well.

The one old looking notebook she had on her desk did catch his attention and made him wanna go through it.

It was the one she used to learn Lydian, he did never ask about her story but he knew that she was a Petrian who was raised by Asher.

"Her handwriting in pretty"

The second prince whispered while placing the notebook back to its place.

Downstairs, Elione was done washing the breakfast dishes and drying her hands off.

She was promised by Louis that he would send her back to her home as soon as he could, and the thought of being with her husband and daughter was the only thing keeping her happy.

The front door was suddenly opened,

She walked out of the kitchen expecting it to be Aylin but her smile did fade away when she saw an unfamiliar woman standing in front of her.

"I got you now"

Rose said...
