My eyes flickered open as the sunlight from my window slowly made its way across my face. I rolled over and looked at the clock next to my bed. 5:13. I had a little more than an hour until I had to get up. I closed my eyes and fell back into a deep slumber.

Beep. Beep. Beep. The sound of my alarm jolted me awake. I sat up, shut my alarm off, and looked around. It was the first day of senior year! Wow, I thought to myself. I got up and walked to the bathroom and washed my face with cool water to wake myself up. I then brushed my teeth with my favorite refreshing mint toothpaste. As the nerves started to kick in, I walked downstairs to get a glass of water. The smooth, refreshing drink slid smoothly down my throat and I finished the glass in seconds.I started getting ready by loosely curling my long brown hair and pinning half of it back. For makeup, I concealed my blemishes and applied winged liner and mascara. I gazed at myself in the mirror and was happy with how I looked so I got up and walked over to my closet to pick out an outfit. I decided on a red dress with converse and a small necklace. I felt extremely confident as I walked outside to my car to leave for school.
It seemed like as soon as I walked in, I attracted a lot of attention. I felt eyes staring at me from every direction as I made my way down the hallway. I instantaneously got chills all over my body. I hate being the center of attention. I quickly made my way to homeroom, anxious to get my schedule.
As soon as I entered the class, my eyes darted around the room. There were only a few seats open and none of my friends were there. I decided to sit between two girls, one was a junior and the other was in my grade. A few minutes later, the teacher walked in and started to pass out the schedules. As soon as mine landed on my desk, I picked it up and read it.

Criminal JusticeOoohhhhh! A huge smile formed across my face. I'm so happy having 3 electives and 3 AP's. I've been thinking about taking criminal justice in college or possibly majoring in something in the court system. That type of major has interested me for a while now!
Before I knew it, the school day was over. My friends and I had 4 classes together and I was siked. As I was putting my books into my locker, I saw someone coming toward me. I glanced up and saw Luke Bryer approaching me. And I don't mean in my direction. I mean toward me in particular.
"Hey Lauren!", Luke said. I smiled and looked up at him. There was a height difference between us, he was about 6 foot 3 and I'm only 5 foot 5. "Hi. How was your first day?", I asked. "Good, good. I actually came over here because I wanted to, uh, ask you something?" I could tell by his stuttering and body language that he was nervous, and that sure didn't reassure me. "Sure, what is it?" "I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me this weekend? Possibly bowling and dinner? You're beautiful and I would love to get to know you better." Luke said this so quickly that I wasn't sure if I had heard him correctly. He was blushing and looked so innocent. "I'd absolutely love to! That just made my day so much better!", I replied. "Awesome", he said, "Saturday at 4?" "Yes! See you then!", I said, grinning from ear to ear. He walked me to my car and we said our goodbyes. After I put my bag in the back seat, I started my car and was about to pull out when I felt a pair of eyes watching me. And I don't mean the good kind.
