I turned around to see who was behind me and mentally prepared myself to fight if needed. Luckily, it was the coat hanger that was at the top of my stairs. The weight of the jackets on it made it feel as if there was a person there. I quickly ran back into my room and shut the door. Am I just overtired?

By now the clock read 4:45. I had about an hour and a half until I wanted to wake up. I wanted to at least look decent, today was the day of my date. Finally! I felt my eyes slowly starting to close as I laid my head on my soft pillow. After being so tired, I felt heavenly.
------------------------------------------------------
Chills were present all over my body and I noticed that I was cold sweating as I jolted awake. I sat up, thinking about the nightmare that I just had. What's going on with me lately? I looked at the clock and it read 6:11. I shut my alarm off and went into the bathroom.

I splashed cool water onto my face to help me wake up and to feel better after what I just felt. I dreamt that someone broke into my house and killed my parents. I was left there to fight the murderer. If I won, I'd end up an orphan. If I lost, I'd be dead. The thought of that made my head spin. I quickly took my pajamas off and hopped into the shower.

The warm water felt amazing against my skin. The scent of my strawberry body wash filled my nose. After washing my hair, I put my favorite conditioner in to make my hair silky and soft for my date.

What if Luke thinks I'm weird? What if he realizes he doesn't like me? What if I embarrass myself?

A million questions raced through my mind. Realizing how much time probably passed while I was drowning in my thoughts, I finished up in the shower and got dressed.

I decided not to put any makeup on until later tonight. My skin looked clear and I wanted to do something fancy later. I love doing my makeup, so I was very excited to be going out later. I put some hair product in my hair to help it dry less frizzy and went downstairs. Since I barely got ready, I had more time than usual before I had to leave for school. I walked to the Keurig and made myself a cup of coffee as well as grabbing a muffin that my mom made the night before. Chocolate chip, my favorite. Mmmmmm.

"Good morning, honey" My mom said as she came down the stairs. "Morning Mom! I'm going to leave a little earlier for school! See you later!" I replied as I ran out the door.

As I walked into my school, the dark dreary halls and same familiar faces greeted me. Boy was I happy to be graduating later this year! I walked over to my locker and put my stuff inside.

I looked down the hallway and saw Luke. He was wearing a white t-shirt as well as dark jeans and sneakers. White looked sooo good on him. He was talking on the phone and seemed very agitated. I watched him for a few minutes, but before I could go up to him, he went out the door. I walked over and looked to see where he went, but he was no where in sight.

As the school day went on, Luke wasn't in any of my classes. I felt my stomach twist into knots. He seemed angry earlier, but what about our date? I reached into my back pocket and grabbed my phone.

Me: Hey Luke, I haven't seen you at school today. Wanted to know if we're still on for later? Hope everything's okay!

A couple minutes later I felt my phone vibrate.

Luke: Still on. See you then. :)

My stomach flipped as I read the text. Almost simultaneously, the bell rang as well. This signaled that school was over. I got up from my seat and walked to my car to go home. I couldn't wait for tonight!

About two hours before I had to leave, I decided to start getting ready. I couldn't wait to do my makeup. Since my skin was clear, I decided to just use a light tinted moisturizer all over my face. I concealed any redness or darkness I had, like my under eye circles. These were pretty obvious seeing how I barely got any sleep the night before. I set everything with a light powder and lightly contoured my face. I finished off with a mauve blush and my favorite highlighter to add a glowiness to my cheeks.

Now for the fun part, the eyes. I primed my eyelids to ensure my eyeshadow would stay on all night. I decided to go with a light smokey eye to compliment my green eyes. I then applied some liquid eyeliner and finished off with mascara. I also added a baby pink lipgloss to my lips. Satisfied with my makeup, I moved onto my hair.

Since my hair mainly dried straight, I decided to use my flat iron to touch up any pieces that needed it. I then put on a cute sun dress and some wedges. As I glanced into the mirror, I felt beautiful. I rarely ever get a chance to dress up like this, and I loved it. Luke was coming in about 20 minutes so I decided to go downstairs and wait for him.

My parents gasped and greeted me with compliments as I walked down the stairs. I felt like I was going to prom all over again! I hugged each one of them and walked onto the porch as I waited for Luke to arrive.
------------------------------------------------------
40 minutes passed and Luke was no where to be seen. I texted him twice and got no response. As another 25 minutes passed, I called him. His phone went straight to voicemail. Either his phone is dead or he shut it off to avoid me. At this point. I wasn't sure of which one.

After I had been waiting on my porch for a total of two hours, I went upstairs and took my makeup off. It's not like Luke to stand me up, but then again it has happened to me before. I texted him one last time before going to bed.

Me: I don't know where you are, if you stood me up or what, but I'd love to hear back from you to know what's going on. Thanks.

Tears escaped my eyes as I wrote this,  only thinking the worst. Maybe I really am not good eno-

Wait. Why did Luke get that phone call? Who was on the other line? I grabbed my
purse and ran to my car.
