He outclassed them. Mace Windu could feel it through the Force. He, Mundi, nor Kit Fisto were a match for the unbridled rage coming at them. Every move they made was thwarted by his sheer power. Every plan they formulated, he picked it apart with cold calculation. And to rub it in, his eyes were closed, the entire time.
Mace was brought back to the battle as Kit Fisto was sent hurtling toward him. He just manage to catch the Jedi with the Force before he slammed into him. Laying him down, Windu was greeted by near death. A pair of sizzling yellow lightsabers burned the air in front of his face as he jumped away, only to have his momentum stolen as he was dragged back by the Force. He hit the ground and skidded to a stop as Kiadi Mundi began an assault, his refined lightsaber skills allowing him to interrupt before Mace found himself as two halves in the council chambers of the Temple. Kiadi continued the fight for a few seconds before he was flung away with a powerful push. His back connected with the glass windows of the council chambers, cracking it before he fell to the ground.
"Where is she!?" The yell was unexpected. It had been silence thus far, the young man simply acting and reacting. Mace felt a knee connect with his gut and his lightsaber dropped to the ground, where it retracted. He was then suddenly hurtling out of the window end over end, his spiral stopped to float over the streets of Coruscant in bright day. "Where is she!?"
Mace could feel his throat constricting and clawed at the invisible hands, even though he knew it was useless. "She was Sith Kirik. Face the truth. You broke the code for a Sith." Burning yellow eyes held the greatest contempt for him in that moment. Mace was sucked back into the room and sent sprawling to the wall, held there by the force. No sooner than he opened his eyes did he feel the lightsabers burrow into his gut, undoubtedly going through the wall behind him as well. His eyes widened only a moment before he lost consciousness, the Force invoking itself to preserve his life.
The lightsaber was pulled from Windu, a carterized hole left through his stomach. Kirik retracted it, clipping it to his belt, opposite it's twin. He took a step towards the door when it shot open and he was propelled backwards shattering the cracked glass above Mundi and falling towards the grand staircase bellow. Halfway down, he blacked out.
-Power-
Yoda staggered into the room, leaning on his cane in resignation as the night fell on Coruscant. He sat in his chair, contemplating the situation. He had meditated for hours but the dark side was hiding the future, blocking out his senses. His face wrinkled in frustration and pain. He could still feel Mace Windu's death rippling through the Force. The stronger the connection, the longer and more pronounced the effect on the Force, and Mace Windu was... had been deeply intertwined with the Force. 'A long time it has been, since the Force has responded like this to a death.'
"What happened?" Adi Gallia's hologram sat regal and refined, a look of utter seriouness on her face.
Kiadi Mundi was straight-backed in his chair, pain hidden behind his proffesional demeanor. In fact, most might not take notice he was hurt, but all the present members of the council could feel his pain. It was he who spoke. "It was Kirik. He came looking for her. He seemed convinced that she was confined within the Temple. He... He took us on like we were nothing. I was incapacitated during the fight. " He went quiet quickly as a surge of pain shot through his ribs, around to his back, and then up his spine.
Adi Gallia sat back in her chair, picking up the conversation. "So he doesn't know?"
Yoda's face scrunched once more, and he shook his head. "Aware, he is not. In between the dark and the light, he has fallen. For how long he'll remain there, I cannot say." He reaffirmed his three fingered grip on the arm of his chair, his lips drawing into a thin line. "When I arrived, nearly dead Master Windu was. Tried to save him, we did. Failed." The seven hologram Council members faces were of shock and sadness.
Plo Koon, his face hidden by his mask, came into the conversation. "We should have told him. Kirik did not have to take this path. We failed him. I failed him..." Plo Koon had been Kirik's master. He had seen the darkness in the boy, but also the light. The boy seemed attracted to the darkness, constantly yearning for the power it offered. Master Plo Koon remembered the day he confronted Kirik with his breach of the code.
-Flashback-
Five Months EarlierPlo Koon stared straight ahead, his eyes locked on Kirik's startling blues. Kirik stared back, bored contempt on his face, disregarding Plo Koon, yet hating him. Master Koon sighed, clenching his hands on the metal table between the two. "No attachments, Kirik. The rule is simple yet critical. Not only have you broken this rule, but you've taken another apprentice with you."
The room shook for a moment as Kirik's stare grew heated, conveying a rush of anger. The metal table bent, then slammed into the wall, leaving open space between the two. "I did what you're all afraid to do. I felt. I let myself be alive for the first time since I came to the temple as a child. And I discovered something, Master. Do you know what it is?" Plo had no answer, looking at his student with a look saying "do tell." Kirik seemed pleased with his Master's lack of knowledge, geeling as if he'd one-upped the intelligent Jedi. "Nothing? I thought not. I'll just tell you. Passion, you see. Passion. Is. Power." His demeanor became calm, and he no longer glared at his Master, instead looking at the wall. "I noticed it after the first time I was inside of her. It was amazing. I had never felt so alive. And afterwards, the Force hummed inside of me, responding to me like an extension of self. Love became passion. Passion turned to power. That power has grown and I stand equal to you now." He sat back, satisfied with hinself. H said it one more time though, just to push his point. "Passion is power. Unlimited power."
