SCENE 3:
With a surprised expression, Mr. Crest said sympathetically, “I … I didn’t know. So that’s why.”
“Yes, that’s why I’m like this, a good-for-nothing jerk who disrespects women and feels so self-important.” I bowed my head as I pondered over the story I narrated. “I shouldn’t have done to him. It felt lonely having no bestfriend.”
“You know,” Mr. Crest interrupted. “It’s not too late to reconcile with Matt. It would be best to bring back your friendship with him in your junior high school year, right?”
I pondered over what Mr. Crest said. “Maybe you’re right.” Matt might still consider me as his best friend but the question was when I should get back with him again. I said a lot of cruel things to him, even going as far as insulting.
Surprisingly, only Mr. Crest understood my situation. He was the only person I ever talked to about my past. I stared at Mr. Crest and examined his face. “Is something the matter?” he innocently asked. He was radiantly beautiful even when it was nighttime. The time of day suited the impression he has on other people, mysterious and cool. Against my will, I inched closer to Mr. Crest’s face and our lips touched. Yes, they…touched… Wait! What was I doing?! I wasn’t gay but why did my body move on its own?! I noticed his soft lips twitch a bit and his eyes wide open in shock. He pushed me back causing my back to hit the passenger door. “Ow.” I cringed in pain.
“W-what are you doing?! Y-y-you k-k-…,” Mr. Crest stuttered, his cheeks blushing maddeningly. “You…”
Mr. Crest looked like he was murmuring something to himself. Was it because of what I did? Even if he was pissed off, I didn’t care much. I’d have to admit, I half-regretted it and half- did not. “W-what?” I asked him.
“Don’t you see?! We’re in front of your house!” Mr. Crest furiously blurted out. “What if somebody saw us?! What would they think?!”
I replied softly, “It doesn’t matter, does it?” I can’t believe that Mr. Crest could react like this. Even though he’s so cool and the apple of many girls’ eyes, he could also be cute and shy when it comes to these types of things.
“It does matter! We’re teacher and student, we can’t be like this! Wait, you know what, just get out of my car for now.” He pointed towards the passenger door.
“A-alright…” I hesitated for a bit then I opened the passenger door and exited the vehicle. Mr. Crest opened the driver’s seat window. He was still as red as a beet. “I’m going to sort this out with you, Michael Summers.
“Sort it out all you want, Mr. Crest. I certainly enjoyed those lips of yours.” Ugh. What was I saying? This was so, so gay.
“M-my lips?! Look, I just want you and Matt to be friends again, look for some girls to hang out with, have fun with your lovelife and all as a student.”
“My lovelife would be more fun if you were in it,” I romantically told him.
Mr. Crest’s cheeks flushed once more. “G-goodbye, see you tomorrow!” He clutched his hands on the steering wheel and drove off at a fast speed. Well, so much for that…
I entered my house and my mom asked me, “So, how was school? Got any friends?” I remembered all the things that happened today. Nicolle Parkers, Matt, Mr. Crest… Mr. Crest’s lips and my change of sexual preferences. That sounded weird. “Hmm…everything was fine. Well, I saw Matt again. And, I did gain a friend but he’s a teacher.”
“That’s nice. You must be really glad to be able to see your best friend, Matt, again.”
“Well, yeah, he was really delighted that I was in the same school as him and I felt the same way.” Not really. It was sad.
