Scene 7

There was nothing I could conjure up in my thoughts. The scene before me rendered my mind blank and my body limp. I needed somebody to push me from behind. There was no time for more thinking. I rejected all sensations of cowardice and instantly, I felt my own body move forward. "S-Stop...," I begged in a low voice. "Stop it!"

Alfred's and Mr. Crest's lips parted in the moment I yelled. Crest's eyes bore through mine as if he was sending an S.O.S. message. Mr. Crest then spoke, "This isn't what it looks like!"

"I know!" I replied with anger in my tone. "But it looks to me like this redheaded douchebag here wants to piss me off! Well, if you wanted to piss me off, Alfred, congratulations, you've done it well." Congratulations? Yeah, for being an overly optimistic idiot thinking he could grab Crest like that! Would he do this because it wasn't in my wishes?

"I guess your congratulations for me means that I've finally won against you," Alfred smugly said. "How about that, huh? Breaking news! The famous gang leader of Drake Nat High lost to Alfred Ricks. You're gonna be the laughing stock of your enemies." Mr. Crest went to my side and reassured me, "Calm down, Summers. He's only taunting you. Don't let this rooftop be a ground for violence."

"Please get behind me, Mr. Crest. I won't allow what he did to you! This guy is the one who's gonna be the laughing stock! Not just of his enemies but of the whole school as well!" He went behind me and spoke up. "Let it go this time, Summers. It doesn't matter what he did to me."

I raised my hand and balled it up into a fist. "It matters much to me!" Then, I aimed straight for his face, so fast I expected Alfred wouldn't be able to see it. But, it was all for naught. Alfred blocked my attack. "You wouldn't be able to aim at me if your anger blinds you. So, why don't you admit your weakness?"

With strength, Alfred closed his hand on mine and gripped it tightly. I couldn't be able to let go. Still gripping on my hand, Alfred eyed Mr. Crest intently. "Mr. Crest, despite my advances, know that I'm serious."

Mr. Crest displayed a somewhat nervous expression, avoiding Alfred's gaze.

"I won't let him yield to you!" I protested. He loosened his grip and I stood there in utter disbelief. I laid my hands down at my sides yet I did not open my fists. I still had them closed, keeping all my anger inside me. So, all this farce was because he was serious about this man I have feelings for. This makes him my rival, then.

Mr. Crest faced me. "You know, this is all pointless. He's just exhibiting his superiority so -"

"So what?! Didn't you hear what he said?!" I interrupted. "He said he was serious about you!" Mr. Crest made a gentle smile. "But it's pointless so don't worry about it. I don't have any affection for Alfred. I won't seriously take his feelings for me."

"You... won't?" I inquired in doubt.

"I won't. But I know you have feelings for me." Mr. Crest's cheeks turned reddish and he turned eyes away from mine. "I'll... I'll... take you seriously, though."

"Mr. Crest."

Those words he uttered gave me some sense of euphoria. The one that made me want to stay on this rooftop forever, listening to him say the same sentence over and over again. "Anyway, that kiss didn't mean anything. It was nothing special," Crest uttered out. Suddenly, images of that event when Alfred was kissing Mr. Crest flashed through my mind. I thought what if Mr. Crest finally decided to leave me for Alfred. Certainly, Alfred's richer than me. He could buy anything Mr. Crest wants. Not to mention Alfred's face can attract quite a number of girls if it weren't for his personality. In addition to that, Alfred's 'goal' is Mr. Crest. He went straight for him. He probably might not stop until he has him for himself. I have to be one step ahead of him. I'll show him that Mr. Crest can't just be taken away from me.
