Chapter 2: The Story

Homelands.
The girl who felt of nature itself. He remembers her. No, remembers the tree who wanted so bad to leave and see the world. Wherever Dryad had gone, it wasn't to the new world. Wished and wished she had for a new life but she was stuck as a tree on a hill....

"Bigby... BIGBY" coming to, Bigby spots Snow. "What is it?"

"She didn't come over here with us like I know she said she just left France but I feel like some part of her came with us when we did..." he scratches his scruff. Reaching out, Snow softly touches his arm.

"All we need to focus on is catching Crane and we can worry about her later. I told her to shower and rest while you went and walked Gren to your office. How'd the statement go?"

"Almost everything about the rape answered except where Crane went and why he did it. We know he had his weird obsession with you and pixie-"

"Nixie"

"-whatever doesn't look like you. And Holly's place was robbed so we still have that to figure out. I'm not sure if they're connected but I need time. Let me know when Dixie-"

"It's Nixie"

"-yeah sure. Let me know when she's awake. I'll need to speak with her. For now I'm going to the magic mirror." Bigby scratches his arm. Snow nods and shuffles out of his apartment.

The girl is curled up on his sofa with Colin at her feet. He lays one of his only jackets on her. Bad idea because her eyes shoot open and she immediately flinches and sprouts roots. Bigby puts his hands up and steps backward almost into Colin.

"Good job fucking everything up Bigby. Try a little harder next time." remarks Colin.

"Shut the fuck up, Colin," Bigby snips and then addresses the girl, "I didn't mean to scare you, it's been a long day." Her roots slowly shrink and pull back under the jacket.

"Thank you, I guess." Her slight French accent is showing more in her state of grogginess. She shuffles into the couch a bit, while averting her gaze. Bigby takes this as his cue to leave.

Time for the magic mirror.... oh fun.
