Lorelei stepped into the grand chamber, the air thick with the weight of divine authority. The vast expanse of the throne room seemed to stretch beyond existence itself, yet at its center, unmoving and eternal, sat the god known only as Deus. His throne was not built—it simply was, woven from the very essence of creation.
His gaze settled on her like a storm gathering on the horizon. "You know why you're here." His voice rumbled, not loud, but inescapable.
Lorelei tilted her head slightly. "Maybe."
Deus exhaled, slow and measured, though the weight of his presence never lessened. "You can’t keep interfering with Benjamin.he'll choose his destiny "
She folded her arms, her expression unreadable.
His golden eyes narrowed. "You don’t understand," he said, leaning forward, his tone edged with something almost parental. "You're just a child. You don’t see the full picture. This human must find his own way. That is his destiny."
Lorelei met his gaze, unflinching. "And you remember the others, don’t you? The hundreds before him? Not a single one made it this far."
Deus was silent for a long moment. Then, barely above a whisper, he said, "And that is what terrifies me."
Lorelei let out a quiet chuckle, shaking her head. "Relax. I won’t help him anymore—not even if he begs."
She turned to leave but hesitated at the threshold, glancing back. "But between us… I really liked this one. More than any of the others."
Deus closed his eyes, the ancient weight of memory settling over him. When he spoke again, his voice was distant. "The last time we let our attachment cloud our judgment… we created Lucifer."
"This time, there could be no mistakes." Deus shouted as Lorelei left the chamber.
Eva sat on the cold stone steps of the church, her fingers gripping Benjamin’s cellphone like a lifeline.
She kept her head down, lost in thought, about benjamin, about her father until the low, rumbling growl of an engine broke through the silence.
A 1969 Dodge Charger rolled up, its black paint gleaming under the dim streetlights like liquid shadow. The deep purr of its engine was steady, controlled and power restrained.
The window rolled down.
A voice, gruff yet familiar, cut through the night.
"Hey, kid, very wise of you to call me here"
Eva looked up.
Cigg.
The unlit cigarette in his mouth shifted as he spoke, the faintest smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
" So Where's my buddy " Cigg asked laughing.
The sun hung low in the sky, painting the horizon with warm shades of orange and pink. The waves lapped gently against the shore, their rhythmic hum blending with the laughter of three figures on the beach.
Benjamin sat on the soft sand, watching Amelia and Alie with a peaceful smile. The salty breeze played with Amelia’s hair as she leaned against him, her fingers lazily tracing circles in the sand. Alie sat cross-legged in front of them, beaming with excitement.
"Look!" Alie said, holding up a sketchbook. "I made these!"
Benjamin and Amelia leaned in as she flipped through the pages.
Each drawing was breathtaking—images of the sea at different times of the day, surreal landscapes filled with stars, strange dreamlike creatures. But the most striking were the portraits: one of Amelia laughing, another of Benjamin looking thoughtful, and one of all three of them together, as if frozen in time.
