A paper aeroplane landed squarely on her face, earning an exasperated look from the blonde. She picked it up swiftly from the ground, sending it back in the direction it came from, towards the attacker. With effortless timing and accuracy, a satisfying yelp was heard behind her.
She sauntered across the hallway, slowly taking in her surroundings. Taking in a small whiff, the familiar scent of week old gym socks flushed back to her, causing her to make a gagging motion out of disgust.
The decor in the hallways intrigued her, the nicely furnished walls were coated a nice shade of cherry red, neatly spaced out gold platters hung evenly, the school accomplishments written all over them.
Though Annabeth appreciated the furnishing, the gruesome sight before her did not paint a pretty picture. A couple was entangled against the wall, in an extremely hot and sticky mess.
"New girl..." The rest of the words faded out quickly, but Annabeth heightened her senses, already knowing that she was being talked about.
Gossips, they called it. She did a lot of research on mortal behaviour, much to Percy's annoyance.
"She's already walking around the place like she's all that. Everyone has been saying that she's the highest scoring achiever in the whole school. What a nerd." Her ears perked up at these words, faint but strong.
She knew not to turn around, for turning around meant capturing the attention of the gossips. She casually opened her locker, the combination already perfectly memorised into her head, along with her whole timetable.
That wasn't normal mortal behaviour was it? Oh well.
Before she could get the chance to ear in on more juicy gossip about herself, the two what seemed to sound like girls had already left, their conversation already too out of earshot.
Already disliked on, great start. She thought to herself, enveloped by the distractions around her. She slammed the locker shut, sighing to herself.
Six hours of something she had already knew wasn't as fun as it sounds... well it didn't sound remotely fun at all, honestly. Her gaze dropped towards the ground, not wanting to meet the eye of any other student.
"Wise girl?" The words came from a very familiar voice, Percy's to be exact.
"Seaweed brain!" She looked back up to see her boyfriend, and without another thought, she jumped into his arms, their foreheads touching.
He wore the same jet black hair, a blue-green pigment in his eyes, and a clueless expression upon his face. Casual attire - grey joggers, a long sleeved shirt and a pair of converse.
She folded her arms around his neck, wrapping them around it gently, her lips pressing onto his, the scent of the sea surrounded him. They both smiled against each other's lips, a giggle from Annabeth. She missed him so much, too much for words to express anyway.
Everyone around them seemed to be pointing fingers at them. Well, at least they were in their minds. In reality, they just pasted on judgemental looks. Not that that was better in any way. Gossips all hid behind locker doors, rumors already passing.
They all gave the same message.
The nerd had a boyfriend.
( A cute one that is. )
