Was everything repaired between the four siblings by the time they parted ways after Christmas? No. But were things better? Undeniably.

Most of the family would leave for Monaco at 8pm; Anne-Laure's flight to Argentina was at 1am. She wandered around the airport with her family and saw them off with all their bags, giving her thousandth congratulations to Lorenzo and Charlotte, the engaged couple, and giving her maman a tight hug. Charles squeezed her face and kissed her brow, and Arthur tried to convince her that maybe the weather wouldn't be so nice in Argentina and perhaps New Year's Eve would be more fun in Monaco after all, and although he tried to joke, Anne-Laure could tell he was a little bit serious. Nevertheless, she tried not to take it personally and kissed both of his cheeks and then shooed him away with both hands.

"I will see you next week," Charles said very seriously, reminding her of her promise to return quickly and letting her know that he planned on holding her to it.

"Thursday," Anne-Laure confirmed with a promising nod.

Part of her unspoken resolution with the boys was that they would no longer be so afraid for her, and she would hold strong to her promises. No more helicoptering from them, but in turn she had to be a little more reliable and honest. So she planned to hold herself to it. Or, at the very least, was hoping she could.

Lorenzo hugged her with one arm. "Have fun," he said, "be careful, always follow the directions on your phone, don't take shortcuts,"

"...Lorenzo,"

"Don't go anywhere by yourself," Charles added.
