Today was supposed to be a fun day. I was invited to a party. I was just supposed to have fun, cake and make a couple new friends. But instead I see purple men laugh at things that aren't funny, kids not waking up, not being able to go back to Mommy and Daddy, getting scared by a weird bunny thing, and seeing Chuck get taken away. Today was not fun.

After a long time in the car (an hour I think), Guy wanted to turn the radio back on again when we got back into the car. I wondered if me and him were going to stay friends after this trip. However, he kept giving me glances. I knew why. It was about the other boy who I could of been friends with. I sighed and, remembering how Mummy always said not to lie, spoke up.

"Mister Jerry?" I asked.

"It's Jeremy," he said annoyedly.

"It's just... I'm sorry..." I said in a murmur. Mister Jeremy looked over at me from the front seat, looking very confused. Because he looked that confused, I decided to explain some more. "I'm sorry that Chuck got taken away..." I said. He just half-smiled as he looked back to the road.

"Eric, that wasn't your fault at all. He wanted to get one of you to persuade us to follow even more. It was bound to happen," Mister Jeremy said. I shook my head.

"No, I let Chuck get taken away. After the Purple Man hit your brother, he was going to get me. I didn't to move. Chuck called out my name. So the Purple Man took him instead. I supposed to be taken, not Chuck. I'm sorry," I said. Mister Jeremy was not saying anything and his smile went straight, which I don't think counts as a smile.

"Chuck is like a dad, he cares," Guy said. "I didn't win at a arcade game at the party and Chuck gave me some tokens to help me play again."

"I wish I could care like that," I... confessed, I think that's what the word is. "If my friend disappeared, I would call them over and over again. But I'm the one who made Chuck disappear, so I can't care like him..."

"Eric, you are caring right now for him," Mister Jeremy said. "Caring is when you think about them all the time, and you want to help them no matter what."

"But I can't help him..." I said confused.

"Maybe you can't, but you want to. Even if you can if can't, it's the thought that counts. My brother cares for the girl who saved you, but she is in hospital at the moment. But as long as he wants to help her-"

"I still don't get it," I cut in, not understanding anything Mister Jeremy was saying. He just shook his head side to side.

"It's something you will learn. Don't worry," he said. After some time of no speaking, I decided to talk again.

"Do you think Chuck will eventually not be angry at me?" I asked.

"You mean will he forgive you?" Mister Jeremy asked. I nodded.

"It was an accident though, right?" Guy asked me. "So he will in the end... right dude?"

"I guess..." I said. Everything was just so confusing.

"He will," a voice said from the front of the car, however it wasn't Mister Jeremy.

"Jacob!" Mister Jeremy said happily. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Just a little beat up, that's all. Vincent didn't to kill me, he just wanted to get me out of the way," Mister Jeremy's brother said, who seemed to be named Jacob. "Now, Eric... Chuck will forgive you. If he is your friend, he will."

"But we only met just today, he doesn't know me that well to be a proper friend, right?"

"If he sacrificed himself for you, he is your friend in my book," Jacob said. I guess I believed him, but I still had doubts.
