Emberpaw was brimming with happiness. She had just become an apprentice!
Weaselgrowl stood beside her and mewed in her ear.
"Let's go and explore the territory."

Emberpaw nodded eagerly. "Can Ashpaw and Shadowpaw come too?" She asked.

Weaselgrowl shook his head. "No, I'm sorry but their mentors will have other stuff to do with them. And if we go alone, we can get used to each other."

Emberpaw mewed. "I guess."

"Follow me," Weaselgrowl jerked his head toward the camp entrance. "we have a lot of stuff to get through."
Weaselgrowl's voice sounded wise and calm, not at all like the grumpy short-tempered tomcat she had heard.
They padded out if the camp to see the forest.
"Wow . . ." Emberpaw breathed in astonishment. "This is amazing! I can see so much!"

Weaselgrowl gave a loud mrrow of amusement. "This is hardly anything. Come on, I'll show you the interesting stuff."
As she followed him through the trees they came across a tall, thick tree. The trunk was rough and the leaves were dense and green.
She couldn't contain herself as she hurled herself up the tree.
Before she knew what she was doing, she was halfway up the massive tree, and she could hear Weaselgrowl yowling. "What are you doing, you crazy mouse-brain," at the top of his lungs.
Emberpaw froze, her paws seemed to be stuck onto the tree.
"Help!"

Weaselgrowl rolled his eyes before clambering up the tree after her.
"Next time listen to what I say." He growled through clenched teeth before grabbing her by the scruff and hauling her down.

"Sorry," She squealed. "I . . . I don't know what I was doing! It was like the tree was calling to me . . ."

Weaselgrowl stuck his face a mouse-length away from her. "I don't care what you felt like. You could've been hurt." And with that he stalked away with Emberpaw close behind.
