The train came to a halt and I stepped out onto the platform, the whole place was so familiar, even the horrible stench of the place.
Every single memory with Phil came crashing back like a wave, it hurt so much, it hurt more than when he told me about him and cat, more than when he packed his final bag, more than when I spent my first night alone in the apartment knowing he wasn't coming back, more than when I got the invite to his wedding.
I was frozen on the platform, I had nowhere to go, I hadn't planned on going anywhere but I had imagined all I would do was stand here.
I couldn't stop them now, the tears, I must have looked so pathetic to everyone walking by, a grown man crying in the middle of a train station.
The cold air of the passing trains hit my cheeks but I was still unable to move, I was glued to that spot, the spot where it all started, the most fun I have ever had.
"D-Dan" I knew the voice, I knew exactly who it was but I couldn't turn around because it couldn't be him.
"Dan" his voice was so soft, he sounded so fragile and hurt.
My eyes shot straight to my feet, I knew he had moved in front of me now, he was looking right at me.
We stood in silence for a small second before he lifted my chin up so our eyes locked, he had been crying, his eyes were red and puffy.
"What are you doing here?" My voice cracked
"The 19th is our day" he smiled.
"Phil, its your wedding day" I was choking back the tears
"What's the point of marrying someone you don't love" the smile never left his face it just seemed to grow
"Wh-what?" I stuttered
"I don't love her Dan, I love, I love you"
My legs felt like jelly, my brain couldn't form a sentence, my heart was beating out of my chest.
"I love you Phil" I had never been sure enough of anything in my whole life.
"I'm so sorry Dan" he shook his head
"No, no" I placed my hand on his cheek "don't be sorry"
I couldn't stand it any longer, the empty feeling in my chest was now in charge of all my decisions.
I moved my face so our lips were just about to touch, his forehead lay on mine, he leaned closer and his lips crashed with mine, nothing has ever felt so perfect.
We kept our lips locked with one another's and our tongues worked in rhythm with each other's.
We eventually parted and I placed my head on his shoulder, he pulled me into such a warm hug, so similar to our very first one at this exact spot all those years ago.
"Let's go home" he whispered in my ear
We linked hands and Phil bought himself a ticket, he found two empty seats and sat down. We cuddled into each other not unhooking our hands, I placed my head upon his chest.
"I love you" he kissed my cheek and my eyes fluttered shut.
