"Hmph. I can't believe eight years ago, on this very day, all of the trouble and difficulty that I... that we went through started." Shion says to himself, walking in to his newly refurbished home.
In the time that Nezumi had been gone, Shion and a few other survivors have built up a lasting, high tech community. It is a place no secrets kept, not lies told and no one left uncared for. It is truly a utopia, unlike the false 'Holy City' No. 6.
Shion kicked off his shoes, hung up his coat and decided to turn on the news. As soon as he clicked the on button, a reporter popped onto the screen, decked in full rain gear with trees blowing and rain pouring behind him.
"Today we have a code silver, folks, and if you don't know what a code silver is, it means we have a Typhoon on our hands." The man explains, causing Shion to roll his eyes and turn off the damn machine.
"Code Silver, huh?" The now twenty year old thought to himself, "I remember the day I picked that name."
"I suggest for a typhoon that we use the name Code Silver!" A three years younger Shion called out. Being one of the only people who actually cause the downfall of the now Unholy City, he had a pretty high ranking amongst the people. Shion had no idea why he picked that title, until he remembered that fateful night. He recalled seeing his glistening silver eyes and being entranced by them from the very start. "Oh, Nezumi, how you are missed" The seventeen year old thought to himself.
Now that the typhoon had been announced, Shion felt a sudden sense of nostalgia. It was almost ironic and an incredible coincidence that a typhoon was fated to hit New Utopia on the anniversary of his and Nezumi's meeting.
Suddenly, as if on cue, the strong winds and pounding rain hit his house.
And he felt like he did eight years ago.The urge to throw open his window and scream into the unknown consumed him.
He wanted to shout his pain into the wind and cry out the names of those he lost in hope that the storm would feel that it's not alone.
He wanted...
He needed Nezumi to come home. And so...
Just like he did eight years before...
He walked over to the window and threw open the doors, the strong wind pushing at his body with enough force to make him take a step backwards.
The rain pelted Shion's face, slightly stinging when it made contact with his scarred, pale skin.
He smiled at the familiar feeling and ran to the railing, his bare feet slapping against the cold, wet ground.
He then opened his mouth...
And screamed.Shion shouted into the storm, his emotions being blown away with the rain.
He called out Safu's name, mourning his lost friend.
He cried Nezumi's name, hating him for leaving and loving him for who he was.
He cried for Inukashi.
He cried for his mother.
He cried for everyone who meant the world to him.
He shouted he loved them to the storm. And when he had run out of things to scream about...
When he had run out of tears to cry...
And when his throat was raw with the emotions that he had spilled...
He went inside, and somehow managed to forget to lock the door (whether it be by "accident" or in hope that his rat would return, the storm would never know). An hour had passed, and he waited.
It had begun to sink in that this wasn't like the last storm.
There would be no Nezumi to slink into his room, bleeding out of a...There was a crash by the window.
Shion turned around slowly, the realization of what was happening sinking deep within his skin and into his heart, which had now started to beat rapidly.
A man with long bluish hair that was tied into a messy bun on the top of his head was gripping his stomach, blood seeping through his fingers and onto Shion's white (well, not so white now) carpet. He was breathing heavily, his skin pale and nearly translucent.
"Nezumi?" Shion whispered, completely in awe, and oblivious of what the blood means.
"Hey kid, I'm sorry for barging in like this, I didn't know where else to go..."And with those final words...
Nezumi passed out onto the floor of Shion's apartment, his body slamming against the ground with a hard thud.
Well shit.
