I began to walk to my car when I was too distracted to see Christian walking toward me.

"Hey Mia!"

I looked up to see him right in front of me.

Oh geez, he probably thinks there's something wrong with me... I'm always getting distracted!

"Oh hey!" I said, while pulling one earbud out of my ear. He turned around with me and started to walk alongside me.

As we were walking in silence and I was jamming out to my music, he turned his head to look at me, and lightly chuckled.

I turned my head toward him and asked, "What?"

"I just don't know how you manage to do it all," he said.

I took the other earbud out of my ear looked at him confused. "What do you mean?" I asked.

We got to my car and I had him sit down in the passenger seat next to me.

"It's just that no matter what's going on, you always seem to be happy. You're in all these super hard classes, and you had that bad coffee mishap this morning, and I just don't know how you do it. On days where it seems like everything is just going bad, you can tell when I'm annoyed, or when I've had enough. But when your day goes bad, you say it's bad, but you manage to keep your head up and you still seem happy. I just don't know how you do it. It's incredible, really. I'd expect you to just storm over to your car and drive home like a grump after a bad day, but you didn't. Time stands still around you. You smile and soak up the sun, then play music and manage to jam out and have fun. In class in the morning, everyone is tired and dull, and you come in and say good morning to our table and ask how our weekends were, and it's like you're living the high life. That's what I like so much about you," he said.

I couldn't believe the words that came out of his mouth. The whole time he spoke, I could see his bright blue eyes shining. Whenever he gets lost in what he's talking about, they look so intense, and so real. I tried to absorb what he just told me, and I was taken aback by the whole thing. I couldn't help but smile. I was gleaming.

"Woah. I honestly didn't know people paid that much attention to me. I don't know what to tell you. All my life up until high school, I've cared what people thought of me. I was always afraid of what people would say or what they thought. Then I finally realized that they don't matter. I should be able to wear what I want to, and do what I want to, and I shouldn't let anyone or anything bring me down. I've realized that this is my life, and if I fall down, I just need to get up and try again. There's no time to be sad, or mad. This life is too short and we should all learn to live in the moment. And to remember that we always need to be nice to people. And that's it, I guess," I said with a chuckle.

"Wow, I wish more people saw life like you, Mia," he said.

He looked down at his watch and was surprised.

"I totally forgot about track practice! This was a great talk, it was super inspiring. Thank you for letting me follow you to your car and talk," he said with a laugh. "I'll see you tomorrow in class! Bye, Mia!"

I nodded as he shut my car door and ran towards the track at the back of the school. I couldn't believe what just happened. It was a rarity that Christian spoke to me outside of class. If we did, it was usually to ask me for help on whatever we were working on in class. But this time, we actually talked about something other than school work! This will be a hit with Jeff! I can't wait to tell him all about it.

I inserted the key into the ignition, and started the car. Immediately, I plugged the AUX cord into my phone, and began blasting music from the speakers. I loved to blast my music and jam to the radio while I drove home. It always put me in a good mood.
