The bell rang and I swung my backpack on. Giving Spencer a look, I poked him in the side.
"What?" he said looking up from his notes, obviously still absorbed in them.
"The bell says we get to go home, dude." I ruffled his hair and watched as he quickly gathered up his possessions.
"Better not rush too much," I teased. "The girls might think you're eager." Quickly I dodged the poke that was about to get my side. He scowled at me and stood up, towering over me.
"Shut up, dude," he joked. Sure enough as we left the classroom there were girls just about lining up to talk to him.
Their swooning could almost make me vomit. I poked Spencer one more time before I escaped the two cheerleaders who started to hang on his arms.
"Val, wait up!" he called, but I just gave him a wink and headed for my locker. 13-41-6, it clicked open. I tossed in my school books and groped around the top shelf blindly until my fingers found and retrieved my iPod.
Lots of the kids had already left, but there was still a good amount left. Of course the sporty ones were getting ready for practice. This reminded me to maybe swing by the pool to see the boys swim team. Then there was a group of kids studying in the library. There were more just talking. I shut my locker and started down the hallway to leave when I felt a hand grabbing my arm.
Spencer, out of breath and looking a bit ruffled, smiled at me.
"Leaving without me?"
"Trying to," I said back sarcastically.
"I'll give you a ride." He ran his fingers through his slightly gelled hair.
"I like walking."
"I like ice cream."
"What?"
"I thought we were saying things that didn't matter," he smiled. I smiled too. Then I flicked his ear and began running. Not too long after and he had already caught up to me. He pulled me into a head lock.
"You're going to get it now!" He started giving me a noogie. Laughing and out of breath I shouted, "No! Anything but that!"
A loud high pitched voice pierced my ears. "Speeeeenceeeer!"
His grip on me loosened and I wiggled out of his arms. Just in time too because another girl clad in her cheer uniform came strutting over.
Spencer straightened up and scratched behind his ear, not exactly making eye contact with her. I just waited.
"Hey, Kandy," he said once she attatched her claws around his arm. Giggling, she snuggled her face into him. Then suddenly she looked up.
"Ugh, what is she doing here?" Kandy spat. I innocently looked aorund bobbing on my heels.
"Who me?"
"Yes, maggot get out of here." She turned to Spencer. "Honestly, I don't know why you hang around her."
Spencer pushed her away. "She happens to be my friend. And I was about to take her home." He looked over to me, his eyes pleading me not to be mad. I wasn't of course, but I still said, "I'm going to walk Spence. I'll catch up to you later." Then I winked at him and turned off. I could hear Kandy behind me cuddling up to him but soon my headphones were on and the world was out.

So here's some information about me. I'm 5'3, light brown hair, dark brown eyes, not thin but not fat, and definitely NOT athletic. Yeah I like sports, but I'm not some weird prodigy at them. I am also quite accident prone. I could pretty much hurt myself even if you put me in a straight jacket.
