Chapter Two: Secret Bloodlines, My Secret Pieces

I never imagined this life. I never wanted to live with supernatural beings, but now, here I am; struggling to free myself in the arms of a monster. I fiercely scratched him with my nails, but nothing that I do can harm or make pain to him. After few moments of struggling, I felt weak. I was just hurting myself by punching a rock. I tried to calm myself, and I cried hopelessly. I endured the thought the makes me wanna throw up and beat this guy that holds me.

“Please Francesca. Let me explain.” Rayner said calmly.

I cringed. “You have nothing to explain! Let go of me.” I commanded, but he heard nothing to make him free me, thus, he just tightened his lock. I put a fierce look on him, but his face didn’t change. He wore the same worrying face. Do I have to be friends with vampires, even though they killed my Freir?

“Not all of us are killers. I’m here to save you, Heleina, and Freir. I admitted myself here. I’m not asking you to be friends with me, but please. Listen. Let me do the favour of taking you out here, then I’ll not show myself to you anymore, Francesca.” He said, and loosened his arms a little bit. I was moved by the way he talked. I remembered his face a while ago, his reaction to what the three whore vampires might do to me. He was sincere. He was ready to fight and be wounded to save me. I looked up to see his eyes once more, to see the way his eyes melted into mine. I was hypnotized, and for a moment, I wasn’t able to move and open my mouth. My silence was broken when he slid his hands up to the back of my head and pushed me to his icy cool chest. I was relaxed completely when I smelled his glorious scent.

“Rayner, tell me all the things that you know. Have you known before that Freir will be one of you? Have you read it through those vampires’ minds?” I asked him, my tone calm. He looked away at the blankness of my thoughts.

“I will tell you, if you promise to behave and be secretive about it. This is a secret, and if someone knows it, we’ll be dead.” He said in a flat tone. The changing in his expression is constant.

“I promise.” I declared.

He cleared his throat and started talking. I noticed the sudden change in his tone. “We, Edmund and I, have been living for almost three centuries before you were born. We were the princes of this secret world; the world of the vampires, but a palace minister named Septimus formed a secret alliance and conspired against us. They overthrown us, and they ruled the kingdom with greediness, thirst, and lust for human blood. But it is foretold that they will be defeated if Edmund, I, and two other vampires with a special kind of bloodline just like Edmund and mine will fight against them. So we spent almost a century looking for them, and luckily, one was your Freir. The reason why they took him is that they want him to be a vampire; they will be his sire. They will erase his memories, and make him charge against us. I read it through Gresca’s mind, she was not careful of her thoughts. She almost shouted it to me.

     “If you were to ask me what kind of bloodline we have, it’s the kind that provides us with extra abilities. Not all vampires can do it, only those who belong to a certain bloodline. And those bloodlines came from our human blood. If our blood are really special and concentrated, when we turn into a vampire, we can do special abilities aside from those we naturally get when we are changed.

     “Our abilities; Edmund, Freir, the other one, and I were all linked. We all work through our minds and we are all connected to each other. Edmund can sway your mind. He can change whatever you think, and put whatever he wants in your mind. A while ago, the reason why the three vamps didn’t notice our presence was Edmund’s doing. He swayed their minds and erased us in their thoughts. But his talent has limitations. Edmund can never use it to us, or his mate. Also, its effect only lasts in a certain place where his victim is just approximately one hundred kilometres away from him. So, by now, Gresca, Laeina, and Veszia should know that Edmund and I are here. But my ability is different. I can read their minds in wherever place they are, if I would want to. I just need to concentrate and search for their thoughts. I can start reading every person’s mind at any place they are when they will have a direct contact and conversation with me. But it’s limited when they didn’t.
