I was in a huge, absolute and a complete MESS. The caps lock indicates an extremely high-level serious situation that I purposely entered myself into.
"You-You have a boyfriend?" My mother asked me in pure horror.
I gulped, a wave of regret rushing through me for blurting out something I absolutely shouldn't have.
"I— "
"You said you have a boyfriend, Neena?" Her voice raised slightly accompanied by her eyebrows.
She looked like a loyal boyfriend who caught his girlfriend cheating on him.
"I may have." I whispered lowly.
"So, it's true?"
For a moment, I considered laughing at her face while saying, 'Got you!'
But I didn't.
Instead, I crossed my fingers behind my back. "Yes... it is."
She gasped dramatically as if she just heard it the very first time, all over again.
"Hey Shiva! Lord, dear lord, Why?!" She abruptly started sobbing while staring up at the ceiling as if it would actually reply back.
I love my mother to death, but I was well acquainted with her everlasting drama and usually it lights up my life, but this situation was an absolute exception.
Before you shun this piece calling it a lonely struggling woman's rant, let me take you around this.
Are you still with me? Okay then.
Like every other day, my mother was rambling about the guys that my father has been looking for me. I've been avoiding her by using the lame 'I don't want to get married so early' but today I couldn't take it anymore and accidentally blurt out that I couldn't marry because I have a boyfriend.
Turns out, that wasn't such a good idea, no, not even an idea. It was a smart-as-bait experiment in artificial stupidity.
"That's why you're always on your phone and that laptop." She accusingly pointed her index finger towards my laptop that was resting on my bed.
You want some popcorn, buddy! - I glared at it.
While I was busy glaring at my laptop, Mother was busy glaring at me. That happened for some seconds. Then, I realized, all this symmetrical glaring wasn't going to fix the mess I made, so I moved my eyes back to my Mom again.
"Mom, please just calm down and listen to me." I tried to reason with her.
"What will other people say?" She practically burned holes into the ceiling.
Of course, she would think about other people's opinion.
I tried again. "You don't understand-"
"Oh yes, this is all my fault." She said sardonically and I resisted the deep urge to face-palm myself.
"Mom-"
"You have no idea, what will happen if your father heard about this?" She turned her head towards me with the speed of lighting.
I didn't answer because deep down I actually wanted him to know. I wanted him to know, to get the hint, so they can both finally stop trying to commit Mission 'Neena Ka Swayamvar' (Get Neena Hitched).
Marriage was literally dead last on my to-do list.
Mom opened her closed eyes and glared at me. "This is all because you are in very bad company and look, now you're spoiling your life."

Humor"Where do you think you're going?" I froze. "Turn around." I didn't move. "Turn . the . f*ck . around." Something in his voice told me, to stop messing around, to surrender. I de-freeze myself and turned around in a deliberately slow pace. His hard...
