Tatia's POV
I groaned as I felt two tongues lick my face. My eyes opened to see non other than my annoying younger sister, Sophie, giggling with our house dog, Loki. She, along with the dog, tried to mask the mischievous glint in their eyes with an innocent smile.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I groaned once more before getting out of my bed." Did I not tell you to never come in here unless I told you to?"

"Mama's calling you," Sophie said, her big, brown eyes looking into mine."Sawwy."

"Whatever," I muttered, looking away from her and going inside the bathroom.

A shiver went down my spine when I felt the cool water hit my body. I liked cold showers in the morning. It wakes up my system quite well.

After showering, I put on my clothes and brushed my teeth. Once I opened the bathroom door, I saw Sophie still in my room, playing with Loki.

I chuckled when Loki would not let go of the toy, which Sophie was tugging from the dog's mouth. Walking to the both of them, I suddenly carried Sophie, causing a small shriek to escape her mouth. "You scared me!"

"I'm sorry," I cooed, tickling her sides. She laughed and squirmed in my arm, but I was able to keep her from falling since she was quite small for a three year old."Let's go downstairs before mom starts yelling."

Sophie nodded, her arms snaking around my neck while I carry her downstairs, Loki trailing behind us.

I grinned when I saw my mom flipping some pancakes, and putting the cooked ones on a plate. Setting Sophie down on a chair in the dining room, I greeted my mom good morning.

My father was no where to be seen, of course, for he was already dead. He had died in a car accident back in the Philippines, my home country. His death had devastated our family, and we grieved for him for a year. However, when my mom got a job offer here in Australia, we decided to give life a shot again.

"Good morning to you too, young lady," she said, her focus still on the pancakes. She was, however, smiling."There are some pancakes that are ready. Go and eat. You'll be late."

I nodded, obeying her. Sitting down next to Sophie, I laughed when I noticed that almost her whole face was covered in chocolate syrup. She laughed as well, and my eyes suddenly drifted to the birthmark on her forehead. It seemed as if it was glowing slightly, or perhaps, my eyes were just deceiving me.

Sophie and I had these birthmarks on our foreheads; hers shaped like an imperfect letter V, whilst mine looks more like a lower case m. My mom always told us to conceal it, and I did not have to be told twice. I am not that confident to walk around parading a very much obvious birthmark on my forehead.

A few cursed words escaped my lips in the form of whisper (or else my mom would've killed me) when I gazed at the clock. Picking up Sophie from her chair and setting her to my waist, I carried her and a pancake towards my mom's car. Our mother then grabbed the car keys and locked the house.

Once all of us got in the car, my mom asked," are you ready for school?"

"Yeah, you could say that," I laughed nervously.

Today was my first day in a highschool here. It was absolutely terrifying. Don't get me wrong, I like Australia, and the I've met so far are kind, but this is highschool. I was already comfortable with my bestfriend, Dani, in the Philippines, but, of course, we had to move. I mean, I understand why we had to move, and I know this is for the best, but angst has always been a part of a teenager, I guess.

I sat down comfortably at one of the chairs in a classroom. I was quite early and only 4 people were here in the room with me. A boy with a blue denim jacket was sitting three seats away from my right while a boy with leather jacket and glasses sat on my left.
