Amelia turned her fresh books over in her hands and organised them in a neat pile in her new locker she looked around taking in the familiar place getting ready for another year of education. She took out her timetable and looked over her classes for the day Amelia was a smart girl she never got a grade below a B plus she loved learning about new things, whether it was how to make origami or how to bond two chemicals it didn't matter she just loved to learn. She loved learning because she enjoyed knowing how things work it made her feel like she could fix things if they ever stopped working the way they should.
Amelia sighed at the white piece of informative paper in front of her it's not that she hated school, the teacher or the learning. Amelia hated the people who attended she was sick of their bullshit display of stereotypical groups and their cliché lives, people felt like they needed to fit into this movie like dream however Amelia hated it she was happy with her own life she knew that she didn't have to fit in and be popular she wouldn't describe herself as the most popular girl at school but she wasn't exactly the invisible kid she had her own group of friends and she just kind of existed in her school, this was good enough for her. She felt comfortable with where she stood on the social ladder because she didn't fit into a cliché group or lead a stereotypical life she was happy with whom she is and who she was raised to be.
"Are you just going to look at that or are we going to compare?" Sammie questioned with an amused look on her face as she watched Amelia's facial expression change from shock to realisation and then to excitement.
"Sam! You scared the shit out of me!" Amelia replied laughing as she pulled the taller girl into a hug "I've missed you! How has your summer been?" Amelia questioned as she loosened her grip on her best friend.
"It was awesome I didn't think summer camp would be my thing but it was fine, I'm still pissed my parents sent me there though and I missed you and Drooler, speaking of The Drools where is she?" Sammie questioned noticing the absence of the third girl.
"I actually have no idea" Amelia replied briefly looking around for the shorter girl noticing that she wasn't anywhere to be found, she turned to get out her books needed for her first classes and shut her locker "and you know she would kill you if she heard you call her that"
"Yeah well she's not here so I'd like to see her try" Sammie laughed grinning at the brunette standing opposite her "How was your summer anyway?"
"It was great, my grandparents are super entertaining" Amelia said sarcastically as she started walking in the direction of her home room with Sammie.
"I'm guessing your trip to Europe wasn't how you imagined it then" Sammie reciprocated glancing sympathetically at the smaller girl.
"It was the worst I mean it was nice to see my grandparents and visit Ireland but it got boring once I realised I was not in Miami anymore and I didn't know anybody and it's so cold over there" Amelia ranted "I spent most of my time playing Scrabble and cards with my grandparents and I just really wanted to c-" Amelia was cut off by a unrecognisable pair of hands wrapping around her waist and a head burying into the crook of her neck and pulling her to a sudden stop in the corridor.
"What the-"she began to say until she recognised the person hugging her aggressively from behind "What...is...it with...you...guys?" Amelia questioned laughing as she struggled to breathe against the third girls force.
"We love you and we missed you that's what" The third girl spoke and loosened her grip as she noticed Amelia's struggle to speak.
"I missed you both too" Amelia replied laughing at the smaller girl and turning around to hug her back.
"Gross" Sammie muttered looking at the display of affection in front of her.
Amelia turned and raised her eyebrow at the taller girl with an amused expression on her face.
