Really quick, sorry for such a late posting! I had a pretty tough time characterizing Luffy and MC in this one for some reason – But I'm pretty sure the last time they had a late night talk-sesh I had the same problem (Did a lot of referencing from similar chapters to make sure I got it right, but lmk if Luffy in particular seems too OOC...). Something about their one-on-one interactions is so difficult but so satisfying!! Ugh, I love them <333 Especially now that we've gotten to a good turning point regarding the soulmate connection!!

Also, when we reach 250k reads, I'll be hosting another event on discord. ;))

Happy reading! <333

The open window glares, illuminating grayed sheets in the orange-light of the bustling city – the unrestrained breeze swims into the room, slick and scaly against her skin.

She shivers, clutching her arms tight as the goosebumps race. There's a single, white-lighted spec in the polluted violet sky, set silent in its darkest corner.

"She's weird..."

A sharp squeak, tiny pads tapping over foot – the girl flinches – whirls to find the culprit.

Nothing.

"Why's she always staring at the sky like that?"

They scuttle around, two tails tied, stalking in the depths. She reaches out for a hand that isn't there anymore.

"She'll just end up like the others..."

Something skitters on the sill – smaller and faster than she can turn.

"Nobody cares about you."

A finger taps her shoulder. The window slams – it goes black. Rats snicker in the dark, laughing.

"They'll take you back soon, y'know."

Her back meets the cold steel of a railing behind, and it gives with a 'snap.'

She gasps, weightless – tiny glowing dots hover in pairs – The static sound of rushing water flooding their mocking high-pitch.

Nothing.

The ground meets her back, hard. It's bright again.

Where did her breath go? She can't move.

She opens her eyes – People are screaming.

It's cold.

"Robin!"

Luffy – His voice echoes over the boundless ocean, devoid of all life, of all motion. The waves are stuck in the air, glinting coldly in the light.

Breath comes, a misty cloud.

Too cold.

Ice nips at fingertips, spreading numbness. Her blood, her veins, freeze – skin and bones brittle like ice.

"(Y/n)!"

Her name, this time. It's muddled.

Frost creeps around her vision, elaborate marks that swirl with each puff of her breath. Everything slows. It burns.

She closes her eyes.

Nothing.

My eyes snap open, disorientated as the frigid air enters my lungs with a retch, the shock of its bite blessing me with awareness.
