⠀⠀Aculeas did not move, not one attempt to flee. She just stared, eye wide and clouded with fear and unshed tears. The small, white wings on her head lowered considerably? Much like ears would out of fear. She could not even speak, but choked out one word. It was a word that even the thought of gave Aculeas nightmares. It stirred old memories she tried so hard to put behind her. "Alpha," was all she could muster before her stable form wavered and then broke. She lowered herself to the ground, looking as if she was trying to bury herself in the leaves and underbrush.
⠀⠀Jet heard the roar as well, and completely reacted to it. Growling turned to snarling, and snarling turned to a fearsome counterattack. He gave a furious, bellowing roar that echoed through the forest, like a war cry saying "bring it on". He turned to Aculeas with an angry look in his eyes, but it was a different anger. Rather than just pure anger, it had a caring look in it. He was much more angry that they had caused Aculeas suffering and pain rather than this morning's attack.
⠀⠀Another snarl emanated through the woods, signaling that they were getting closer. It was only an amount of time before the Clan found the two new friends if they didn't get moving soon.
⠀⠀Jet snarled took off in the air, heading straight for the Clan of Dragonite. He wasn't going just to pick a fight. He was going to make them pay for both his and Aculeas' suffering.
⠀⠀In a panic, Aculeas flew after him. Her head wings flapped as hard and as fast as they could. She caught up to the Garchomp and wrapped her tail around his foot, pulling him back, but with little success. "No, don't," She pleaded, "he probably brought the whole Clan! They'll kill you!" That's when she heard it: the voice she had hoped she would never have to hear again. It was calling her name with such authority and tenacity.
⠀⠀"Aculeas? Aculeas, get down here!" Alpha bellowed, his voice laced with hatred and malice.
⠀⠀Jet shook Aculeas off his foot with ease and spotted the leading Dragonite. He was massive, much larger than any Dragonite the Garchomp had seen. He was covered in scars, likely old battle wounds, but just a few were fresh. I'll make you new scars, Jet promised silently to the dragon.
⠀⠀"Well well well, if it isn't that tiny little Dragonair with an ego to match," Alpha chuckled, eyeing Aculeas and Jet as they flew down to greet the Dragonite Clan's leader. "Aren't you the sniveling dragon who actually put up a fight against us earlier?"
⠀⠀Some of the Dragonite Clan revealed themselves, stepping out of the shadows of the forest. Their numbers terrified Aculeas, but Jet stood unnerved.
⠀⠀"It's a shame you decided to flee instead of staying. Things would have gotten interesting. I might have even accepted your strength of will," Alpha stated, rambling on as if they were all just acquaintances.
⠀⠀"Accept this, you pathetic coward!" Jet gave a startling screech that would have rattled any Pokémon. He rushed the alpha, his two claws glowing a faint green. He slashed them across the dragon repeatedly, creating shallow and deep cuts in the Dragonite's face. He then leapt back and released a mouthful of flames, completely engulfing the dragon. Jet stopped and watched, a sneer on his face.
⠀⠀Tears streamed down Aculeas' face. "No Jet, stop it, they'll kill you! I don't want to watch anymore Pokémon die!" She watched the Garchomp confront her old leader, and then go farther by attacking.
⠀⠀Alpha was enraged. He was unfazed by the slashes Jet applied to his face. They would just be more mere scars from previous battles-battles he won. He crossed his arms as the fire engulfed him, and when they dispersed, he opened his eyes. His irises and pupils were minuscule. And then, all hell broke loose.
