A couple of weeks later I had to get a physical so I can join the cheerleading team. The cheer team was cool. I tried to make friends and not be shy. I made friends with a girl named Bernadette cause knowing 1 person is good enough. Everyday Rachel would brag about her boyfriend and I thought it was really annoying. She seemed to care about him a lot. But they only dated for a week. How can someone love a ginger for a week ? I mean he wasn't that all attractive. He wore mainly the same clothes everyday. Blue shirt, dark blue jeans, and these red and black shoes that nobody has heard of. It was kind of weird. I thought he was poor but he had an iPhone so he most have some money. For some reason he would always stare at me and was always interested in what I would say. But he was my best friends boyfriend, I knew her for 8 years. When I first met him, he seemed like a cool dude. Now I can remember his name cause he sits right in front of me in science class. Everyone seemed to know him. He hung out with everyone. The next day he stopped sitting with us. What happened? Did I say something mean or racist ?

"Rachel what happened to Jack ?"

"We broke up." She said.

"Why ?" I asked.

"I don't know. It was out of nowhere. I don't know what I did wrong."

I felt sorry for her. Why would he break up with her? They were cute together.

FLASHBACK. " Our ship name was Rack. People would always yell it down the hallway. HEY, LOOK IT'S RACK! (End of Flashback)

Days have passed since he sat with us. No, I didn't like him. He was my friend. I guess I kind of missed him. But one day. OMG. I'll cherish it forever. Our lunch tables were like picnic tables and they were in rows. It was our table and his table and we turned around so we sat on the outside and faced each other and started making jokes and talking. We would jump to different sides and trip people when they walk by. Jack would still stare at me. As usual. He actually moved his seat to sit next to me and he STILL stared and smiled a lot at me. This turned into an everyday thing now. He would always sit next to me and talk to me. One day, I didn't feel like talking to anyone so he put his arm around me to make me feel better. That's what friends do right ? I mean a football player and a cheerleader could be best friends.

"OTP !" Siarra shouted.

" What ?! No. I'm just having a bad day and I'm really tired. " I said softly. When the bell rang for lunch to be over he hugged me. That hug really changed things. I think I have feelings for him. No. There's no way a black person like me can like or even love a ginger like him. Completely different races. In science class, our teacher was talking about genetics and dominant and recessive traits. Jack was obviously recessive cause gingers are very rare. You don't see one everyday. That's what's so cool about them.

"... Actually, Jack, if gingers don't reproduce soon, they might go extinct." said the teacher.

"Really ?" Jack said. He looked back at me and grinned. I knew he liked me. He was showing signs. I can't go out with him, he's my best friends ex-boyfriend. That's against girl code rules. I can't say no to him though. Everyday he lowkey flirts with me and I think it's cute. But when people flirt with me, for some reason, I find them attractive. He wasn't hot at all. He just looked like an average boy, a normal ginger. He was THAT guy. The one that I called a weirdo, the only that gave me high fives everyday and made up a handshake for me, the one that gave me a shoulder to lay on when I was feeling sad. I wonder why him and Rachel broke up ? Was it because he stared at me all the time ? I'm too shy to ask... maybe one day I will. Or maybe she knows.
