It was midnight at the university, and I was sitting in my dorm room, listening to Taylor Swift as I studied for a quiz. Suddenly, the song changed, and a song I knew all too well came on. It reminded me of my high school boyfriend, James. I was having trouble focusing. My mind wandered to my high school days, and I began daydreaming about my past.
Two Years Ago:It was midnight on a friday night, and I had just gotten back from my friend Darcy's house. She was trying to cheer me up after my breakup with James. I had always known he was a player, but I was so entranced by him that I refused to believe it. He was dark, mysterious, and the most gorgeous guy I had ever seen; he was everything a teenage girl craves. He was my addiction. He told me he was homeschooled, but I didn't believe him. I thought he could possibly be a dropout, but I never asked. At the time, I didn't really care. Darcy had given me a makeover to cheer me up. I looked in the mirror and laughed. I had on bright red lipstick and one of Darcy's tight, black skirts. My short, blonde hair was curled. I was about to turn in for the night, when there was a knock at my window. I looked outside, and there he was. One look from him and I was out the door. I didn't care that I hadn't seen him in weeks; he was here now. He looked as rebellious as ever in his tight, white v-neck. He opened the door of his red convertible, and I hopped in. He revved the engine, and started driving. He was going way too fast, and he couldn't keep his wild, green eyes off of me. I put my hands in the air and yelled. He laughed. Suddenly, we pulled up to the beach. We ran into the water, hand in hand. He kissed me. We walked up to a little shack on the beach. He began taking off his t-shirt. I pushed him away.
"I know where this leads. Do you remember why we broke up? You cheated on me! I'm sorry, but I have to go home." He looked at me with those green eyes.
"Yes, it's true. I cheated on you, but when I'm with other girls, all I see is you. I love you."
"You don't love me! We break up almost once a month! This time, we're done!" I threw a glass bottle that was on the shack porch on the ground, and it shattered to pieces.
"It's either me, or your life on the road, romancing any girl you please. That's right, I know you're not homeschooled!" I shouted, tears pouring down my face.
"Ashley," he whispered.
"Please just take me home." I whispered back.
The drive home was silent. I got out of the car and slammed the door.
"Ashley, please don't do this. If you do, this will be the last time you'll ever see me."
"Good!" I shouted and I ran inside.
Present:I was snapped back into reality by a knock on the door. I opened the door, and it was Him. The Him. I gasped. I was shocked. Before he could say anything, I kissed him.
"We're never going out of style," I whispered.
