"Go ahead and take a seat." The tall, slim police officer smiles at me and gestures to the couch in the corner of the small, square room.
"Do you know why you're here?" Her partner looks at me and cocks his head to the side. I mentally compare him to a lost puppy, struggling to survive and looking for its mother.
Three can play at this game. I'm no innocent. They know that. But as long as they deny the truth, I will as well.
"No sir. I haven't the slightest idea as to why I would be brought here. Let alone by my father."
The female officer looks at my hands. She then glances at the rest of my relaxed body. When she realizes I am not in any way nervous or tense, she decides to begin. I make a mental note to stay this way.
"I am Detective Kate and this is my partner Detective Richard. We are part of the SVU. To start off, we would like to ask you if you would happen to know what a faction might be?"
I put a puzzled look on my face. "A faction? No I don't think I do, unless you're referring to a group of people. I read a book once with factions in it. Although, I don't recall the name."
"And how did this book end?" asks the male officer by the name of Richard.
"The book ended rather abruptly. Although, the world it described in it's pages was a disaster. A complete mess consisting of uncontrolled chaos," I respond carefully.
Little did I know, my life was about to become the same way. Everything I knew, everything I held dear to me, would be taken and turned against me in an instant.
