The next afternoon, Feferi was hoping to see Aradia again. Unfortunately, her mother picked her up this time. She had met the kids' parents plenty of times. She remembered her easily. Feferi greeted her with a smile.
"Hi Miss Megido!" She opened the door for her daughter, and gently closed it behind her. The window was rolled down so they could talk.
"Hello Feferi! I'm so sorry about yesterday! I was so tired from work that I slept right through my afternoon alarm!"
Feferi giggled and shook her head. "It's quite alright! I understand! It happens! Luckily, you had Aradia to help!"
Her mother smiled. "I am lucky, aren't I? Well, I'll see you tomorrow!"
Feferi internally frowned. "Oh, alright! See you tomorrow!"
It seemed she would never be able to see Aradia again. She got the rest of the children into the right cars and retreated back to her classroom to finish planning the activities for tomorrow.
On her way back to her apartment, she stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few necessities. She had planned to bake the children cookies one night. She had such a sweet class. They were never too loud, always did what they were told...
"Hi Feferi!" A sweet voice came from behind, pulling her from her thoughts. She turned to see Aradia, smiling at her.
"H-Hey Aradia! What brings you here this late in the afternoon..?"
Aradia smiled and pointed to her outfit. A dark red shirt with a name tag on it and khaki pants.
"I work here, silly."
Feferi mentally punched herself.
Idiot.
"Oh, right. Sorry, I'm just...not myself today."
Aradia waved her hand and giggled. "It's quite alright. It's understandable. You have to work with small children all day. It can be a hassle."
"Heh, yeah. Uh..Aradia?"
"Hey..Fef?" They spoke simultaneously, causing them to giggle.
"You first." Feferi blushed softly at the nickname.
"Well...I was wondering if you would like to go out for coffee sometime this weekend? Well, technically tomorrow. You know what I mean."
Feferi's heart was beating like crazy. She wondered if Aradia could hear it.
"T-That would be lovely, thank you."
"Great! How does...10 AM sound?"
"Perfect!"
"Great, I'll call you then!"
They quickly exchanged numbers with a smile. Aradia then pulled her into a hug. Taken a bit by surprise, Feferi didn't hesitate to hug back. Her cheek could feel Aradia's soft hair against it. She smelled of nice perfume, and flowers.
Pulling away slowly, Aradia spoke softly. "I'm really glad to see you again."
Feferi stumbled over her words, until she could form a slightly coherent "I am too."
Embarrassed, she rushed off to the check-out. Aradia giggled to herself and continued stocking the shelves of the almost empty store.
The next day, Feferi awoke extra early. She didn't mean to. She just wanted to be ready as soon as possible. She wanted to make sure she didn't embarrass herself.
It was a nice morning. Soft blue sky. It was a little chilly, given the fact that it was Fall. But nonetheless, it was beautiful. The autumn leaves fell gently.
Feferi decided to walk today. The soft wind blew her hair back. She felt like she was in a music video with her earbuds in. Her soft fuchsia and black sweater, blue jeans, and black combat-like boots made her feel confident.
At least that's what Aradia thought when she saw her walking down the street.
