The throne room has never been so guarded, wherever Leo walked he would be followed by ten guards who would wait outside of each room he walks into.
Leo was aware of one thing, Elmer did not come so far just to knock on his door and ask him nicely to leave.
He knew they will try to break into the palace, and with half his guards away and the missing hunters, the prince had many advantages.
And so he went back to his study waiting for Ivor to inform him of any sudden changes in the situation.
The little cottage was empty, the garden looked almost colorless in the darkness of that night.
He walked past the flowers towards the door that opened easily since it was not locked.
Walking around the house checking every corner of it. Opening the window to get a better look at the palace.
The moonlight reflecting on his short silver hair as he mumbled a few words in a different language.
He placed his dagger on the wooden table of her room, before jumping outside of the window, heading fastly towards the royal palace.
The second prince opened that door without making a sound, then slowly closing it behind him before stepping inside.
The lights were off yet he could see that someone was sleeping on the bed.
Louis sat down next to the bed, taking a break for himself. He had decided that would be the night he ends it all but he was still worried about Edmund.
After their mother left them behind and seeing a whole new side of their father, Louis tried his best to make up for it with the help of Elmer but no one can replace the parents especially not in a child's eyes.
"Am sorry"
Louis whispered.
"But everything I do is for you"
He added while getting up, the moon reflected on his light blue eyes that looked tired.
The second prince suddenly touched the top of the blanket, his expression changes as he immediately removed it to the sight of a pillow instead of his little brother.
"EDMUND"
Louis shouted before running all over the room, turning the lights on and looking everywhere for the little prince but there was not a single trace of him.
Dinner was served.
The guard placing the plate on Leo's desk just like he asked.
Of course he had to try it first to make sure that it was not poisonous.
The king usually eats in the dining room but that one evening he felt like having a change of heart.
The maid who were serving the all of the guards inside the palace or by its walls.
Betty who walked towards the little prince's room with all of his favorites hoping it would help him sleep better.
She did not expect to open the door to et another prince who seemed to be broken.
"Prince Louis, are you alright?"
Betty put the plate away while running to check on Louis who was sitting on the ground.
"Edmund is gone"
His few words planted a lot of worries into her soul but she still wanted him to stay positive.
"Aylin and the others did what you asked for, she asked for you since she will leave the palace shortly you should go, I will try my best to find where the little prince is"
Betty said.
"He will be alright"
She added while walking outside.
The second prince decided to act faster and rushed outside as well.
Betty kept looking around in the all of the places Edmund usually goes to but she was not able to find him which only made her worry more.
Walking back to the kitchen where the twin were done eating their dinner.
"Betty!"
Ren shouted running towards her.
Reinna followed her quietly and they both hugged her.
It was not unusual, they did get used to her and would not want to be apart not even for a minute.
"When was the last time you saw prince Edmund?"
Betty found herself asking the little girls even though she knew that they did not get to hang out with him today because of the complicated situation going on in the palace.
"We saw him"
Reina said.
"He was with the king when we were playing outside earlier"
Ren then added.
And Betty realised that she had to let the second prince know as soon as possible.
The red haired girl was dressed fully in black, mask off, checking on all of her pockets, her daggers, sword, bow and arrows.
Aylin did not want to give the enemy a chance of overpowering her.
Someone knocked on the door before walking into the small dark room, lit with a small oil lamp.
"Aylin"
Louis smiled softly while calling out her name.
He knew she would fall behind and try to find Edmund if he ever told her that he was missing.
But they could not afford letting the hunters win and come into the palace.
It was not an easy choice for him to make but he had to do it anyways.
"I have to go now"
Aylin said while walking closer towards him.
She could see right through him. He had a lot of held back thoughts, fears and hesitations.
Closing the distance in between them with a hug as she wrapped her hands tightly around his neck, patting the back of his head.
"Everything will be alright, Louis"
Resting his head on her shoulder while wrapping her hands around her waist.
Louis has never felt that way before. As if he was finally able to catch his breath.
The heavy weights he carried around felt lighter and a soft lover's expression was written all over his smiling face.
Their moment came to an end, Aylin was leaving and he was ready to go ahead and do what he thought would be right.
"Stay safe, Aylin"
Louis said as she stood near the open window replying,
"You too, Louis"
Once Aylin was out of sight, Louis stepped outside of the room.
"Prince Louis!"
A familiar voice said while running towards him.
Betty's eyes spoke tons. Even though the second prince had a feeling of where his brother might be he did not want to believe himself but at that moment, the truth was unavoidable.
Standing there waiting for it to hit him hard.
"He is with the king"
Betty said...
