Aryan Pov
"Oh... God, that was exhausting," Rayn muttered as we stepped out of the meeting room. I rolled my shoulders, feeling the ache creep in from sitting too long. We'd been at it for hours... discussing, negotiating, arguing.
"At least the deal's in our hands now," I said, shrugging off my coat with a tired sigh.
"I need a dark coffee," James grumbled, already making his way down the corridor while we trailed behind.
Then came Sam's voice, cutting through our fatigue like a sudden clap of thunder. "I'm going to the UK tomorrow morning."
We halted mid-step. Not shocked, not exactly. But the timing caught us off guard.
He didn't even look up from his phone when we turned to him...after few seconds he lift up his gaze and saw us looking at him..
"What?" he asked casually, scratching the bridge of his nose
"So sudden?" James asked, confusion threading through his words.
Sam didn't bother answering. He just shook his head, visibly frustrated, and kept walking. We exchanged glances and followed him in silence.
"We're already running late," he started again, his voice tight. "The building's standing, but it's empty inside... it needs people, it needs life. This should've been done a month ago..."
He stopped and turned to us, and this time his irritation was impossible to ignore.
Then came that signature Sam move... he took off his glasses slowly, deliberately, and folded them with a smirk curling at his lips.
"Everyone was busy with their wives."
I shook my head, amused by his sarcasm. I couldn't help myself.
"Are you jealous, somehow?" I asked, lifting a brow, matching his tone.
His eyes narrowed at me, and his voice dropped to a dangerously low note. "What do you mean?"
"Are you jealous that we have wives?" I asked, putting deliberate weight on the last word, smirking back at him and Sam let out a dry chuckle.
"I'm not interested in that stuff. If I wanted someone, there are plenty of girls dying to be mine."
"There's a difference between a number of girls dying to have you... and the one who lives, breathes, and stays loyal only for you," I said, my voice calm.
He rolled his eyes like he didn't care, but I saw the tension creeping into his features.
"There's nothing fun about having a wife," he scoffed, as if he was proving some deep point. But something about that struck a chord... even in me.. but before I could speak Rayn said
"Wives aren't meant for fun, they're meant to be loved. To be worshipped."
His voice was calm and grounded.. I looked at him, a flicker of respect flashing in my eyes.
Sam's smirk twitched, and I saw the way his jaw tightened. He didn't like where the conversation was going.
"Listen, I'm least interested in love or any of that crap."
