*A week later*
Dust was finally up and able to move around, his bruise had finally disappeared and his ribs no longer ached. All thanks to Max of course.
We had moved to one of the little shack like homes on the edge of town, it only had two rooms and a lean to for a stable. Dust had caught himself a two year old colt from the plains just yesterday. Now he's out in a little makeshift corral he and Max built trying to get the horse saddled.
I walked out of the lean-to and went over to Dust.
"Hey! What are you going to name that mustang?" I whisper-yelled so I wouldn't spook the horse.
"I'm not sure, he's a pretty calm colt though, I think he might have escaped from someone's farm," he told me as he threw the saddle up on the colts back. "I'm thinking Ranger?"
"I think it sounds good," I leaned against the fence, "so, uh Dust?"
He tightened the clinch and looked at me.
"Yeah, Kota?" He asked
"When you get that horse ready, I think we should head out of here, I know the sherif here is kind of okay with me living here but that cold change any minute. I think we should head out towards Lone Pine, I have some friends of mine out there that we can stay with for a while."
As I was talking he had gotten the bridle on the horse and tied him to the fence.
"Kota, I'm ready when you are," with that he ran towards the cottage and grabbed what little he had.
I walked in behind him and grabbed my other change of clothes and two sleeping bags, as well as ropes.
We wrapped out clothes into small bundles and made knapsacks out of the sleeping bags. I whistled to Dakota and took his saddle down from the small porch railing and threw it up on his back with the saddle pad. I took his bridle and put it on his head. Leaving the reigns to drag I tied my knapsack to the back of the saddle. Dust walked up to me with his horse ready to ride out. We mounted and rode out of town, heading further west, our first stop, Red Sand.-------------------------------------------
So yeah hey, this is the second update today! Almost home! Maybe 4 hours more? I would so much rather ride horse back for the last couple hours. Horse picture above is Ranger!
Photo creds to me! He's my bæ, his real name is Lucky <3
