A reminder was all it meant to me, a reminder of why I am who I am today. Most children would be crippled at the loss of parents, I exploited these situations.
I shut the file I held in my hand. It was probably the millionth time I'd read it, yet even so the memories of my past still remained fresh in my mind.
"What a waste." I muttered as a smirk crawled on to my face. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone as the pilot was walking towards me, clearly he was anxious to land this plane. He trembled at my presence, yet I'd done nothing for him to do so.
"We'll be landing home in Chicago soon Mr. Elston." He spoke hesitantly, he also clasped his shaking hands together behind his back to hide from me the fact that he was afraid. (He could've done a better job.)
"Very well, make it quick. I have some rats to sweep out of my house." As I replied to him he somewhat raised his eyebrows as if I had deemed him a low-life. Had I?
He made his way back to the cabin and did not bother to lock the door behind him; and soon after I woke from my thoughts I dialed my servants number. I kept in mind to remind him to bring me Starbucks. (Boy did I need it.)
"Mr. Elston?" He asnwered as soon as he picked up the phone.
"Nikias, two things, I have a meeting with some very nasty people. I also hope you have my starbucks, you can look for alternate employment should you not."
"Not to worry Cedric," Replied Nikias "Your meeting and Starbucks are both taken care of. Would you like anything else?"
"Yes! I would like for this plane to land faster." With those words I ended the call, I was in dire need for a bit of rest. Just a little bit, even if it doesn't last much.
I dialed the phone once more this time calling my assistant, Tessa, she's always doing exactly what I assign her.
"Are you awake Tessa, I hope I'm not interrupting your beauty sleep." I asked teasingly, I knew she was asleep and would be quite... cranky.
